I like it a lot! What's the blue masking fluid? How is it compared to maskol?
17 May 2014, 15:26

Thanks Roman.
The blue mask is Micromask from Microsol.
More liquid, better for details, need to take care how long you let it on the parts because it's harder to peel it off and... Blue instead of the horrrrrrible color of the Maskol!

Hi Mates,
I've started to tone down the first weathering step; done on the right😉
1 June 2014, 18:48

I like the weathering. Looks like real world. I have never seen a corsair in use though 😉. I wasn't aware that the magnetos on the r2800 were gray.
7 June 2014, 19:38

Great shot of the finished engine - or is it finished? Like the progress pics and the patience you have shown with the masking that was required. The finished product really stands out because of it. Nicely grimed up, but not too much since it is in service and maintained. The plane that will be attached to it will be something to look forward to.
8 June 2014, 01:27

HI,
Thanks a lot for the kind comments Mates!
The engine is not finished yet, but almost done. I'd like to start the aircraft soon... but would like to work on the cars too!!!! Not enough time to do everything as most of us😉
So few pics of the last progress added 😄
11 June 2014, 04:41

Hi Pascal, great job, as I'll give it a try for this one I will take your work as inspiration😉
9 July 2014, 20:52

Hi, Thanks a lot Mates😢
Stefan, I think I have few things for you if you need documentation about the Corsair.
Let me know...
10 July 2014, 17:39

Pascal that would be very nice! Any help is much appreciated 🙂
10 July 2014, 20:26

I have the same kit
I have some of the aftermarket stuff you use
But I'll lack your talent for achieving suche a great result..
But be sure I'll refer to your build when I'll do mine!
24 July 2014, 15:48

Hi,
Lionel, l'essentiel est de se faire plaisir!
Small update with the sidewalls detailed and partially weathered😉
26 July 2014, 17:49

Bien sur!
But it's still an impressive kit. I 'm sure it's cleverly design and almost foolproof, but the idea of starting this kind of kit is still daunting...
27 July 2014, 07:27

Let's go Lionel! Ce kit est un régal!
Still progressing. Pics of the almost completed and weathered rear compartment and cockpit test fit added😉
27 July 2014, 22:34

Thanks Mates!!
Pics of the reason why I'm late for the updates... and a small update with pics.
I hope you will like it😢
10 August 2014, 09:35

Wow, it looks as though you could fire up that radial engine!! Amazing job!
10 August 2014, 10:54

wow this is an absolute master class in scale modelling !!
unreal how real this looks !!
BLOWN
AWAY !!
I wonder how many hours you must have spent on looking at reference material, let alone time spent on building and painting !
20 August 2014, 22:51

Thanks guys! Wing box and central wing section in general is ready to be painted Salmon, then in the right color.
Details added in both right and left wheel wells.
Pics added😉
24 August 2014, 12:01

Hi,
Progress on the wing and canopy: 30 pics added.
Hope you will enjoy the update😉
1 September 2014, 21:26

Still excellent.
I just can't believe it... You needed a small strip on the leading edge of the wing? But why? A faulty assembly from Tamiya?
2 September 2014, 16:17

Thanks a lot for your kind comments Mates.I greatly appreciate!!😉
Maybe the fault came from me... The strip is really thin, less than 0.25mm and is more here to have an easier assembly than to really correct a faulty assembly.
Thanks again for following the build.
3 September 2014, 18:54

It just keeps getting better and better! True craftsmanship.
3 September 2014, 19:21

Thanks😉
Last details added in the cockpit before closing the 2 halves.
14 September 2014, 18:14

This would be easier to floow if you periodically edited the the view as first option.
24 September 2014, 13:10

Hi, Thank you very much Mates!
small progress and pics added😉
28 September 2014, 08:59

this is a build thread and a half, phantastic! castlelated nuts with split pins?????????.........................you're a 'legend'
28 September 2014, 09:30

Thank you very much Mates!
Progress on the propeller and wings. Pics added😉
28 September 2014, 16:48

I just can't look at it.. Ok, I must go, need to trash out my models.
28 September 2014, 18:12

Thanks a lot for your kind comments Mates !!
I will add progress soon😉
3 October 2014, 11:56

this goes way beyond modelling 🙂 makes me wanna shove everything in the trashbin
3 October 2014, 21:16

Hi, thanks once again Mates😉
Few progress pics done yesterday evening.
I hope you still enjoy the WIP.
4 October 2014, 07:47

Just stunning, every image is extraordinary and I just sat and stare at every one of them. I would imagine you could market them and make a pretty penny mate. I love it !!!!
4 October 2014, 07:48

Oh yes, I still enjoy the WIP...
The only problem is that you are killing the subject: Who would be bold enough to build a Corsair after such a masterpiece?
4 October 2014, 09:16

I don't think it is modeling mates... It's making the real thing! 😄
5 October 2014, 19:46

Fantastic progress Pascal! The photos are a great record of your build and the finished model should be on museum display. Great work! 👍 🙂
5 October 2014, 19:55

Tedious..............I looked at 50 and it was too much overload, like a rivet by rivet build. tedious and way too much information. KISS. (keep it simple sonny)
19 October 2014, 21:47

ooh I do like a forthright opinion 🙂
But then, I do like a rivet by rivet build 😄
19 October 2014, 22:11

Thanks Choppa, I hope I was not being too harsh in my observations, but I simply found that it is just too repetitious for MY likings, and I am sure that there are others that may have a similar view. No offence to anyone here, just my view, all without being nasty or rude on my part. Thank God we are all a tolerant bunch. ! 🙂
19 October 2014, 23:59

the nice thing with a rivet by rivet build is that you get to appreciate just how much effort goes into a model like this as well as being a handy reference guide/inspiration etc. 🙂
20 October 2014, 01:25

very good model very detailed . the engine looks very real
interesting colour for the wheel wells salmon pink
28 October 2014, 21:05

Hi Mates, Thank you very much for all the kind comments😉
Paint work is still progressing and is now at the weathering step(s)
Pics of the weathering process and progress added.
29 October 2014, 12:09

I can't wait to see the finished model. This one probably belongs to a museum. Amazing.
31 October 2014, 22:02

God that weathering on the fuselage looks amazing.. soo want to see it done..
31 October 2014, 23:42

Thanks a lot Mates for following the WIP and for your nice comments😉 👍
1 November 2014, 09:03

just curious about the two metal panels underneath, photos 416 & 417,
why replace the plastic there ? was the original detail wrong or are you preparing for weathering ? 🙂
3 November 2014, 13:40

The 2 metal panels. Are the painted or real metal? If they are painted, how did you get that effect? I'm almost embarassed to post anymore of my crap. How did you shrink an entire real Corsair? Gary
3 November 2014, 14:39

Man.... this build is stunning... I wish I had half the skills... need to continue to practice
