Ok Ben, you've got my attention, I like this, good shapes 😄
too cool for school !
And nice to some kit bashing 🙂
17 January 2016, 01:46

Thanks Choppa. I've been thinking of this for years and then saw one from an album on here of all the 262 mock-ups. Then with the new Star Wars film out and the new X-Wings I couldn't stop myself. I wanted to show a bit of the engines but it was becoming problematic. I had to fill in the undercarriage area with a few layers of plastic card but I'm happy with it so far.

I know the album you mean, the one with the Me262 sports floatplane etc.

Cool stuff anyhow, what colour scheme you thinking ?
I wonder what kit might be good for Tie Fighter kit bash ?
helicopters perhaps, Hughes 500 for the body maybe 🙂
17 January 2016, 02:02

Probably like Poe's the one pictured. I'll have a scour through my kits and see if I have enough WW2 era guns/cannons to mount on the wing tips like the X-Wings, if not I'll scratch build some, maybe similar to those normal to the X-Wings.
As far as a Tie Fighter, you're right, maybe one of the M.A.S.H. type helicopter pods would work.
17 January 2016, 02:29

or maybe the nose of a Heinkel 111, F22 Raptor for the wings, with some sawing etc. 🙂
17 January 2016, 03:30

Yeh definitely a Heinkel 111 or a B 29 would be perfect for a Tie Fighter.
17 January 2016, 04:47

and in more in keeping with the 262 too,
maybe a Blenhiem, Dorniers, Arados ?
I guess any glass nosed plane will be a good start.
Nice thing about the twin engine bombers is that there is plenty of plastic in the wings for carving into hexagons 🙂
Would make for a great match pair of models, tempted ?
I hope so as no one has done that before 🙂
17 January 2016, 04:57

I would be Choppa but like everyone I've got kits waiting to be started and some to be finished before I buy anymore which was sort of the idea with this build, I get to use up major parts of it. I'm planning a hotrod of some sort with the fuselage of the monogram kit.
I only actually bought the extra Dragon kit for the canopy as mine got broken when my girlfriend dropped it :/
I got it cheap as it was missing the decals and PE parts.
17 January 2016, 05:14

Not to mention I have to build a wall mounted cabinet to house all these models. Building it isn't the issue so much but extracting a design from the girlfriend that she approves off is near impossible.
🙂
17 January 2016, 05:20

Thanks Walamma but to be fair it's not my idea, others have done it before.
17 January 2016, 09:14

So bare metal parts painted, orange detail painted and Matt/satin black painted. The nice part about this build is.....NO DECALS!!!!!
29 January 2016, 12:28

Ben maybe you should offer to build a "Shoe Rack" for your girlfriend's collection? (Shoes?) If she's like most women!. Then you might "distract" her from your cabinet building for your collection! 🙂
Choppa, Maybe there could be a He111Z zwilling X-wing too! 😮
29 January 2016, 13:09

Ha, no she's ok with shoes Glenn, it's more about us coming up with a design that fits in with her interior design ideas. I built a desk for the spare room/office from my own design because I got sick of waiting for her to show me something, it's a beautiful desk and design but apparently not functional enough.
Can't win.
29 January 2016, 17:45

Perhaps she is waiting for you to take charge of the situation again and just make something nice, again 🙂
29 January 2016, 17:50

Almost finished. Added a bit more paint detail and weathering and the laser canons which need painting. I might look through my odds and ends box and see if there's some decals that suit, then a semi matt/satin coat and make the stand, oh and add the droid.

i agree with all the above comments, it simply looks amazing! 🙂
10 February 2016, 18:03

Ben there's a very small R2-D2 at most Kmart stores inside a red egg "like a kinder surprise" for $2 it would be around 1/48 too it's about 22mm tall 🙂
11 February 2016, 01:41

Thanks Glenn, I've found an old part in my spares box that will do nicely but I think it'll just be R2D2 not BB8.
11 February 2016, 01:53

Hi Ben, what a cool build.
Please take a look at "www.scaleknights.ch", there we made two years ago a groupbuild with different "What-If" Me262 Versions.
Greets from Switzerland 😉
11 February 2016, 18:41

Hi Christian, thanks for your comments, I have seen the album of those great builds, I'm so impressed with what you all did, it was partly where I got the idea from and I went back to the X-Wing version for reference.
I'm thinking of doing a 262 version of the HYDRA Sub from Captain America with the monogram fuselage left over from this build.
11 February 2016, 20:55

Yeah I'm a fan of that 262 Mashup album too !!
great and inspiring work 🙂
12 February 2016, 00:01

I'm going to have to source another canopy for the HYDRA Sub. This is how I ended up with numerous 262 kids in the first place :/
12 February 2016, 05:12

looks good in the sun 🙂
Something like this would suit WW2.1 very much
I may have to do my own X262 variant for it 😄
27 February 2016, 05:09

Wow I love your "dreams" and the results of your realization
15 February 2017, 08:24

looks great
thanks for the homage... 🙂

bye the way, a Naboo 262 is almost ready for rollout.
15 February 2017, 09:22

Thanks Nazid but the 262/x-wing idea has been done before (refer to the scaleknights link above), I just did a Force Awakens version.

Album info
I had an old Dragon kit lying around and sourced a Monogram kit for the extra wings, engines and canopy. All up both cost me about $20au. What better opportunity and timing for a WW2/Star Wars chop-up.
