Cheers guys. Beautiful designs Hanno, have you seen the designers website?

Hey Ben this is looking very cool !
what's going on here then I wonder ?
is this your design ?
I want to hear the whole story behind this one please 😄
Cool project either way and you know I'll be watching this with great interest as I love this sort of thing 😄
Good work thus far bud ! 🙂

Here's the link Hanno, have a look at some of his other stuff, impressive.

@Choppa, I'm just working through the last of my 1/48 Me262 kits I somehow acquired over time, thought the fuselage and canopy looked a lot like the HYDRA Sub so I thought I'd give it a go.

Thanks for the link, I'm totally into the Dieselpunky look of the stuff he designed.
Have you already seen this : Hydra Schmidt Coupe | Album by stratos75 (1:24) ?

Hats off to you Ben, nice to see you getting involved in this kind of thing 😄
great idea to adapt a 262 into that sub 👍
Cheers for the link and info, he does have some cool designs 🙂
Yeah Hanno, I like that one as well 🙂

I did see that Hanno, scratch build from memory? I think the Scale Knight guys did a 262 sub also.
The engine pods are drop tanks from a 1/48 Lightening kit with assorted wheel hubs inside and the four rear vanes are just two layers of plastic card glued together. I might do the same for the control flaps at the front or use some stabilisers from another kit, regardless they'll be mounted on bomb racks.
I was thinking about re-shaping the nose to look more like the HYDRA Sub but then it wouldn't be a 262 HYDRA Sub now would it. 🙂

good call on leaving the nose all 262 🙂
I like the way you're going about this build,
wheel hubs for engine exhausts etc. is a nice idea, works well 🙂
19 May 2016, 22:55

Cheers Choppa.......and it's easier than trying to make some fiddly propeller 🙂
19 May 2016, 23:59

I'd like to do a mash-up of this too. A 262 or P38 would fit for the nose but I reckon a P47 Thunderbolt would look good.

yeah I like that one as well 🙂
I'd go with a Corsair or Zero as the tail can easily be made pointy and the front is round and would suit an appropriately large enough bomb or drop tank for the nose 😄
20 May 2016, 00:20

Yeh the corsair came to mind if not just for the cockpit being so far back

Painted and wet rubbed all around. Snorkel under construction then a few highlights.

Thanks gents. I'm not into dio's but I'm thinking about one for this
27 June 2016, 22:33

Thanks Michael.
I think I might go back to a matt finish, went for a satin/matt but came out more glossy than what I wanted
28 June 2016, 00:08

Ben... that looks amazing! Very nicely done. I'm going to use it for some inspiration on my own Tintin Shark Submarine build. The Me262 just really works well underwater, doesn't it?

Thanks Greg and you're right, it's very sub like. Also have a look at the Daniel Simon link I posted above, you'll get some more ideas from his other sub designs.
