Thank you Anna! It's done mostly with sponges and three shades of dark rust, one shade of dark iron and then I hand rub uschi dark iron.

Thank you, I leave the ones in with the obvious errors as well to inspire me to work harder... I vow for instance to police up the cat hairs next time> 🙂

Using the sponge with dark colored rust against the light faded cammo results in a great 3D effect, and really implies the age of the vehicle! Excellent.

Thank you JD, I always work from light to dark but every time I finish the initial camo it looks cartoonishly light.

Yes Anna, you should give it a try; just go really subtle and light. I start with a torn off piece of packing foam dabbed into my colors, dabbing it off on a paper towel until it's almost dry.
First coat = Vallejo Rust Texture 73.821 then dark chocolate brown acrylic then Tamiya Dark Iron. Hand rub Uschi dark iron power on the highlights.

Make sure you booger it up so it has a lot of craggy surfaces and irregular edges, it's fun.

Wow, metalizing powder? I learned something new! What a superior result, now I have to get some to play with!

Thank you JD - yes I use the dark iron powder to simulate steel. The metalizers for steel tend to be a little too bright for a piece of equipment out in the field. A little pot of the Uschi will last quite a while too.

Very nice steel effect, next time try to use a pencil, you will be surprised!

Thank you both; I actually try the pencil and it works very well but the Uschi powder works best for me.

i was thinking about using graphite powder... but i guess you just answered when you mentioned the pencil😉
