This kit caused me to take the summer off from modelling 😉. Most of it was my own fault. In trying to do the zimmerit by hand, I became too much the perfectionist and was disappointed with the outcome. In returning to the kit before Christmas, I was a little more gentle with myself and accepted this was a first try. I also found the instructions very poor. I had just finished the turret with the instruction pieces when they threw in that the hatch on the right side was circular, using a different part number. Lessons from this...read ahead even more than I usually do and check/double check that version I wanted to do is what is actually being done.
A couple of notes...the decals were not going to work with my zimmerit work (found this quickly) so I just put the one decal on the rear tool box to save myself heartache. For the dark yellow, I used Mission Model late war. It came in pretty light but given that the vehicle was coming from a training unit and likely was hastily prepared, it seem plausible especially since I had departed from prototype already.

I think you did a great job on it Greg. You salvaged the zimm and considering this was from a training unit, they most likely would have had a crappy, refurbished piece of junk to train in. Good job all around!

Good Morning, Greg Thanks for posting, enjoyed looking. We all hit the wall with projects, great that you did not give up. Too bad about the instructions, I like the RFM Tiger's. Thanks for the heads up on the turret. Interesting work on the zimmerit. Catch Ya, Logan
