construction is complete.

typical revell kit, no more no less. i'd say 50 year old tamiya leo1 is probably still better than this one but had a lot of accuracy issues and this one can be made into NL variant right out of box. that being said the Dutch specific parts tree is absolutely horrible in terms of fit and flash compared to the rest of the kit...

anyway next step is primer.

basecoat down.

i mixed the paint from those 6 bottles of tamiya in the background into the large pot...

next stop gloss clear for decals.

decals over gloss. all of them are out of register to the point that i thought it's my crosseyes but no - thank you revell for letting us know these are printed in italy, much appreciated!

paintjob is complete: took care of the details, did the edges and highlights and a couple of scoffs and scratches here and there nothing major. not that this's a modern subject, upcoming dust etc will tone down or completely cover em all anyway i just need the edges to be visible enough to be polished with graphite at the last moment.

next step will be semi gloss and onto oil paints.

i know it doesn't look like much but a lot has happened since the last photo in terms of filters, pinwashes and dust with a couple of oil paints only.

currently it's gotten va flat coat. i'll do some more dust here and there on the hull and the turret whilst i take of the running gear and tracks + exhausts will receive their smoke and oils.

only problem so far has been the cast turret texture, it's too pronounced and makes weathering the turret a chore because much like the zimmerit on wehrmacht subjects whatever you throw at it the texture simply sucks it all up therefore it's the wx of the turret that sets the tone on the rest of the vehicle, with my abilities that is.

as for blue, that's the main color if you want to tone down green as per the modern color theory;
shadow of green is blue,
highlight of green is yellow.
adding white or black would result in grey or brown depending on the initial color so is a no no in my case for black and white base would do that anyway since i am not using opaque paint - that's why i chose them basic colors from transparent tamiya paints.

check this color wheel color.adobe.com/ if you ever find yourself scratching your head what to use for a specific color. just have in mind this is operating on 2 axi - blue for green ain't going to be enough, they have to be on a similar radius as well IF you want to keep the tone of the initial color.

Simon like i've said in one of the earlier updates, weathering this one became somewhat of a chore due to the cast texture on the turret.

upside of this is most real life photos that i could find on the net didn't really show anything much in the way of elements but i really wanted to go a bit further than this - bit more stains, discoloration and streaks etc. oh well, we keep on building & learning. 👍
