Royal Bulgarian Army used a variety of localy produced bodies mounted on Opel Blitz frames. These were called Special Purpose Bodies and were issued to propaganda and repair units, among others.
Cost saving was not the main drver here. The Wehrmacht was in dire need of equipment, so Bulgaria was constantly faced with reduction of types and quantities of vehicles already contracted for delivery from Germany. The solution was finding shortcuts.
One of the shortcuts was ordering refused vehicles through the official distributor in Bulgaria of the respective German producer.
The other-and this was very common for special types of vehicles- was to produce a body localy and source the equipment required for it once again through the respective official distributor.
A Special Purpose Opel Blitz 3.6-36, equipped as a workshop truck is the subject of this project.
