1/48 Testors, SR-71A #61-7972 set several speed records over recognized courses during its final flight and retirement to the National Air and Space Museum in March 1990. These records are still unbroken after 35 years and it seems that the SR-71 will remain the fastest air-breathing aircraft for some time.
