This model represents the E-2C Hawkeye that operated nearly continuously over the Persian Gulf during Operation Southern Watch. The E-2C could detect enemy aircraft and direct fighter intercepts from a great distance. Working in conjunction with US Navy surface ship radars and US Air Force E-3 aircraft, the US was highly effective at policing the no-fly zone over southern Iraq.
