The cockpit is now almost ready - only a wash is still missing. I think the result is looking ok so far. 🙂
11 January 2016, 20:48

Oh, nice...I like that AC! Do You build bomber or nigh fighter version?
11 January 2016, 21:08

It will be the bomber version.
For the nightfighter Ive the S version kit from Hasegawa. 🙂
11 January 2016, 21:45

Could You please send me the manual for NF on private message, not to spoil Your topic? I need the pictures of the cabin, second seat and radio/radar equipment if any exists...I have the ancient Revell and i'm stuck without more than basic details...
12 January 2016, 14:31

The cockpit is the same as mine. 🙂 1999.co.jp/eng/image/10115018z/70/1
1999.co.jp/eng/10115018 <-- a great site to find manuals especially for Hasegawa kits. 🙂
12 January 2016, 14:33

🙂 Sadly Hasegawa cockpits dont have that much details, but I think its ok in this scale.
12 January 2016, 14:39

Yes, Hasegawa is always somehow sparse in the cabin area, but, everything other is ok... With good references man can have very nice replica.
12 January 2016, 14:46

The body is now glued and till now it looks like I dont need filler at all - ok maybe on some tiny little spots 🙂
The wings on the other hand are a different story. Here I need probably some filler between wings and body.
12 January 2016, 19:26

Canopy masked and painted in interior green.
Some extra parts are now also painted, chpped and got a wash.
18 January 2016, 15:24

Well Soeren, You are getting better and better. Excellent work so far! 👍
18 January 2016, 18:12

Thx a lot. 🙂
The next step is now to paint the engines and to try out the chipping fluid.
If it looks like the wing, it should be more than ok.
18 January 2016, 18:25

WoW!!! Superanfang.
Nur Vorsicht bei den Montex-Masken. Sie verlieren ganz schnell ihre Klebkraft und Form.
One of the most beautiful bird.
😉
18 January 2016, 19:47

Thx mates! 🙂
@ Miro
Ja das habe ich auch schon gehört und ich hoffe, dass ich spätestens zum nächsten Wochenende die Lackierung machen kann - wenigstens die Oberseite zum Chipping 😉
18 January 2016, 20:24

Nice! I have to find masks too..Idk if Montex is good or accurate for old Revell's Ginga...And Your progress in modelling is very fast and for big respect!
18 January 2016, 20:46

Thx a lot Kerber and I do my best to evolve my modelling skills, but you learn always something new and there is no end in sight 🙂
Hmm probably they wont fit, but you could try it out.
18 January 2016, 20:58

The body is now ready for the upper base coat in black.
I only paint the top side in black, because to prepare it for the aluminium and the chipping.
The belly will get a grey coat and a pre-shading.
19 January 2016, 07:31

Great job so far 🙂 Cokpit are really nice and wing chipping are very realistic !!!
19 January 2016, 08:01

Thx Christian.
Yeah I hope the chipping will look similar on the P1Y wings, but Im more curious how it will look on the coolings 🙂
19 January 2016, 08:09

Yeah i know, but most pics of the P1Y are not showing that much "chipping" in real.
So it will only be little bit and not TO much 😉
19 January 2016, 08:15

Wings are filled and you still see a little panel line on each side, which I wanted, because you can see this also on drawings and pics.
The engines are also paint ready now and the first layer will be in "Black Base" from AK Extreme Metal to preparte the coolings for the Extreme Metal Aluminium.
20 January 2016, 17:58

I like very much the paint-chipping job you made with engine. 🙂
21 January 2016, 17:57

Thx Christian, but I made a second run because it was to much in my opinion 🙁
21 January 2016, 18:05

Superb! You inspired me to start thinking about this plane, I got it in 1/144 scale.. 🙂
23 January 2016, 19:02

Once again Soeren, you have all our attention, and no wonder, as this is looking most intriguing mate and well done so far. 🙂 👍
23 January 2016, 20:07

Thx a lot Kerry. 😉
Its always nice to hear that you like it 🙂
24 January 2016, 00:24

You are a shining example of how to make things turn out perfectly mate, and we all love your efforts and work. 🙂 👍
24 January 2016, 00:49

😉 Thx but there are still some stuff to do.
The paint job for example will and it will be hopefully not to hard to achieve
24 January 2016, 01:22

Grey primer is sprayed and next step is now to repair some weak spots with filler.
24 January 2016, 11:34

Something I have seen just now: great chipping-work on the engines Soeren, this will be a splendid looking model of a beautiful aircraft!
24 January 2016, 18:51

Thank you Roland. 🙂
Im also happy with the result Ive achieved with the chipping fluid from AK 🙂
24 January 2016, 18:53

This will be most interesting to see your Zouk make it's debut Soeren. 🙂
24 January 2016, 19:41

🙂 Yeah, but this will still take some time! Not before Im confident enough to say, that Iam "at my best" and "will make a great kit out of it". 🙂
24 January 2016, 19:47

Thx Kerry.
But Im still not feeling really confident about that!
The first step now is to build another 48 kit to see how that goes, because you have here so many ways to improive the kit in 48, which you havent in 72. 🙂
25 January 2016, 09:53

Hi Soeren, VERY NICE WORK ON THIS MODEL ! How easy was the use of the Montex masks ? I will folow your build 🙂
Cheers, Pierre.
25 January 2016, 09:59

Thx a lot Pierre.
They are great. The only spot I had some problems were the nose glas masks - around the machine gun. They werent so easy to place in the beginning.
After I cut those in half and placed them separately (and fix some spots with Tamiya tape), it was perfect.
So nothing really serious here.
I already ordered another set of them for my second P1Y and for the upcoming Ki-67 (probably my next build).
25 January 2016, 10:02

Thx Clifford 😉 Ill do my best that it will be still at the end 😛
25 January 2016, 19:27

Hi Sören,
my fully respect!!! The engines (Abplatzer) became absolutelly genial! Man bist du gut 😉
26 January 2016, 19:21

Thx a lot Miro.
Ja, ich bin auch ganz glücklich über meinen ersten Versuch bzw. zweiter Versuch 🙂
Ich bin gespannt wie die Hauptlackierung dann wird 😉
26 January 2016, 19:46

Finally the P1Y is now in aluminium and next step is now the masking of the camo plus the usage of the chipping fluid.
I must admit that I hate to pain this color, because you see every flaw...... and that means NO macro pics of the P1Y
4 February 2016, 20:49

Dank dir Miro.
Großer Nachteil an ner Alu Lackierung ist, dass du wirklich JEDE kleine Stelle siehst, welche schlecht ist...
Zum Glück kriegt das Modell noch 2x Klarlack und ein Wash.
5 February 2016, 11:42

You have achieved some wonderful results here Soeren, and I am sure the next part will look just as good as the silver.🙂
Well done mate. 👍
5 February 2016, 12:15

Thx a lot Kerry 😉
But there is still a lot to do with this one.
The next step is one Im still a little bit afraid of (masking the plane for the green paint on the top) and also the decals and I are not the biggest friends till now 😛
5 February 2016, 12:24

5 February 2016, 12:49

No no more about the masking itself that it will work out in the end 😉
5 February 2016, 13:11

Painted the rest of the cowlings on the wing and used the chipping fluid.
I think the result of the cowlings looks ok in the end or what do you think?
5 February 2016, 16:52

Looking awesome sir, I'm sure the final result will be stunning.
5 February 2016, 17:38

No prob Cristian 😉
Thx a lot Clifford and I really hope that too 🙂
5 February 2016, 18:18

Camo is now done and its looking quite good in my opinion.
Now the paint has to dry for a few hours (3-4) and after that I will stat with the chipping plus the painting of the yellow stripes on the front wing.
I really hope that the chipping will turn out okay, because Im not really sure were I have to chip and also how much I should chip.
5 February 2016, 20:03

Thx guys but I must admit that I already changed it 😉
Here is the current status 🙂
5 February 2016, 21:50

Thx Kerry. 🙂
The paint job is now done.
Now I only need to wait until the yellow is dry to chip this, too
After that I will spray a clear coat and then apply decals 🙂 (but that tomorrow)
5 February 2016, 23:15

very good idea to use lego for base on your model when you paint it. I am going to visit my nephews to borrow some things... 🙂
6 February 2016, 07:00

Thx Pierre.
And true the Lego is really helpful but I bought now a stand from Vertigo Minitures to replace it 😉
6 February 2016, 07:33

if you are takling something like this vertigo-miniatures.c..-scale-1-72-and-1-48 I find it very interesting!!
6 February 2016, 07:39

So now its finally finished.
I think the result looks okay. Maybe a little bit too much on some spots, but for the first time its enough 😉
6 February 2016, 09:29

It looks very good, its not overdone, you found the right balance I think!
6 February 2016, 09:42

Really great result Soeren! That´s a very appealing and convincing finish, you can be proud of it!
6 February 2016, 09:44

Me too, I think that chipping is in the right measure. Congrats 😉
6 February 2016, 09:46

Thx a lot mates 🙂
Ive now also uploaded a picture with the engines on it (with tamiya tape 😄 ) and it fits very well.
6 February 2016, 09:48

"Chipper" we will have to call you now Soeren. 🙂 👍
Looking great mate. 👍
6 February 2016, 09:56

Can anybody give me a clue how the exhaust stains on this one would run? Bottom and top or only top?!
6 February 2016, 10:37

I chipped both sides of the wing, because I saw pics with persons on both sides.
The left side was probably the "main route" to the cockpit and thats why you see here more and heavier chpping.
6 February 2016, 12:37

I suppose the exaust stains would run away from the sides of gondolas on the top of the wing, but under it - on the the sides of gondolas itself.
6 February 2016, 16:01

Hey Edgars,
thx for that.
Ive looked now on several engine pics and you see non exhaust stain at all.
So I will probably leave it like it is now and call it a day 😉
6 February 2016, 16:06

Decals are now applied.
Sadly I destroyed one pair of decals - thanks to Mr. Setter, but you wont miss them, if you dont know which. 🙂
6 February 2016, 21:09

Thank you James. 🙂
Im also really happy with the result of my first try to chip my 6th kit 😉
6 February 2016, 21:31

Thx Christian 😉
Im still a bit afraid of unmasking the P1Y because Ive a bad feeling that some color or clear is gone through a little whole or so....
Like the antenna whole on the canopy....
7 February 2016, 12:20

Thx Rob 😉 And I think thats the reason why we are all here, arent we?
Especially me who learned a lot here and meet really nice people.
8 February 2016, 08:46

Thanks Pierre!
Im really happy that so many of you are liking this one 😉
8 February 2016, 15:13

I like your painting style, it has a slight graphic novel look that I find appealing 🙂
8 February 2016, 18:06

Wow she looks realy good , you did a very good job with weathering .👍
8 February 2016, 18:21

😉 I hope that my next IJA project (probably the one after the Egg plane) will turn out as nearly as good
9 February 2016, 06:28

Thank you Ulf. 🙂 Maybe I bring this one with me, if I will attend on your Stammtisch in a few months.
9 February 2016, 07:13

looking forward to your egg plane Soeren,
you know I got a soft spot for egg planes 😄
9 February 2016, 07:18

😉 Me too Choppa.
From the amount of parts it should be an fun and easy/fast build.
I also want to test out several aluminium shades on the different panels to practice this method for my upcoming kits (like the P-51).
9 February 2016, 07:22

"Slap togethers" are great for experimenting on 🙂
I'm enjoying my "Slap Together" Hawk Aero Cannon at the mo,
a good candidate for experimenting with painting 😉
9 February 2016, 07:26

True and thats the reason why I choose a Egg Plane.
Cheap, not to big and easy/fast to build.
So the best kit for testing some stuff like painting panels in differenting metallic colors 🙂
9 February 2016, 09:56

Thank you Kerber. 🙂
At first I thought the chipping was probably to much, but after all of your respone, I think it is ok 😉
9 February 2016, 12:50

Nice work really nice paint work and the weathering is very nice
9 February 2016, 22:18

EINFACH WAHNSINN!!!! Sauber gebaut. Frage Abplatzer- Haarlack Metode? Würde ich auch mal versuchen.
10 February 2016, 18:04

Thx mates.
@ Miro
Nein, ich habe dafür Worn Effects von AK Interactive genutzt.
Ist wirklich klasse das Mittel und extrem einfach zu benutzen.
Youtube Video

10 February 2016, 19:09

Made a huge success of your modelling..............what else. !!!??? 🙂 👍
10 February 2016, 21:06

The pace of your progress in skills and techniques is amazing, Soeren. 👍👍👍
10 February 2016, 21:09

Beautiful work Soeren, just the right amount of chipped paint I would
say. Well done !
10 February 2016, 21:18

Thank you Hanno.
I must admit that I wasnt sure how much I should chip at first but luckily i obviously choose for the right amount 🙂
10 February 2016, 21:25

You did. Those Jap-planes often seem to be quite overdone to me. Your model appears to be well balanced to me.
11 February 2016, 06:18

Thanks again Ulf 😉
Lets see if I can achieve something similar on my A6M from Airfix.
11 February 2016, 06:49

Hi Soeren, schöne gebautes und seltenes Modell gratuliere. 🙂
Wie hast du die Farbabplatzer gemacht?
Hi Soeren , beautiful built and rare model congratulate . 🙂
How did you do the chipping?
11 February 2016, 18:49

Hey Christian,
danke schön. 🙂
die Methode siehst du bisschen weiter oben. (Tut. Video ist auch dabei) 😉
Habe es mit dem Liquid Fluid von AK Interactive gemacht (Worn Effects)
11 February 2016, 20:05

18 February 2016, 06:54

Thx Kerry even I didn't build anything in the last couple months 🙁
17 April 2017, 15:23

Soren, 😉 The break has done wonders for you if that's the case. 🙂 I do like what you have done mate. A LOT. 👍
17 April 2017, 15:28

No this one was before my break. 🙂 I finished this one over a year ago. Sadly I havent finished one kit in the last couple months
17 April 2017, 16:36

🙂 Thx. It really helps my mojo to hear such nice words mates! 😉
25 April 2017, 07:27

😉 For me it is.
Especially when I think about it that I only started this hobby two years ago 😉
29 April 2017, 07:04
