Chevy Xtreme - In Progress

Turns out I used the wrong front bumper, but it fit into place just fine so I'm not too worried. This kit includes a few option pieces, like the choice between a chromed and bare plastic grill and the bumper I just mentioned. Hard to pin down what year they're going for with this kit, the dashboard looks like its from the 1994 version of the truck but the external styling has been updated away from that version. 

gorgeous engine! I'll admit not all the pieces line up like I'd expect, but everything slotted into place beautifully and the plastic was so much better than retro reissues. 

This manual is soooo chaotic, it is def the weak point of the kit. My other 90s AMT kit also has a bad manual, but in that case it's because of the gotham nightscape used as a background for the whole manual. WHY AMT?? 

Verrrrry satisfying to paint. Still gotta paint the gauge panel. This kit rules! I used Army Painter Obsidian Pigment Toner over lemon yellow for the stereo screen, I'm really falling in love with that toner. In practice it's like a clear dark emerald, like welder's goggles. 

Used a gundam marker to panel line to save some time, I did slip a few times unfortunately. I removed it with alcohol and took paint with it, but honestly it looks like a little wear you'd find inside any 20 year old truck. 

 

Just finished spraying Tamiya smoke clear over some Sinful Colors Fiji nail polish. First time I've masked a design into a car body and I'm really happy with it! Didn't expect the difference in finishes but I love that about it!
