Dave KubiznaI just finished building the Tamiya M4A3 Easy Eight kit. It comes with the rubber band style tracks. I want to prime it for paint and I'm wondering if I should remove the tracks before priming or can I just paint the tracks? Any imput would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

gorbyGenerally modelling primer isn't ideal for rubber band tracks. You might get away with it if you leave them on the vehicle and prime all of it together. Automotive primers might be more suitable if you want to prime and paint the tracks before they are fitted, as the primer is more likely to survive when the tracks are flexed.

Dave KubiznaSo me being new to the hobbyI have another question. I have a couple of kits built and painted and I am at the weathering stage. Is there an all purpose wash or does it really depend on what color the model is? I've looked online and at my locl hobby shop and there are so many options that I just don't know what to choose.

Martin OostromIn that case, get some cheap plastic and a tube or two of cheap oil based paint. Perhaps use some spoons and start experimenting. Paint the spoon, and weather with the oil paint. You can streak the oil paint with some (odourless)thinner. When you're done or not happy, apply some more thinner and the oil paint is gone. Start fresh.
