I designed my own masks and made them with my new cutter-machine

Chris AuthorSince summer I have a new cutter and use it for cutting masks. I design them in Inkscape and the brother cutter cuts them out. I use 2 cm Tamiya masking tape, 2 layers and the cutter cuts the upper tape. So it is easy to peel the masks off. If anyone is interested, just ask me for the file.

Chris AuthorIn Picture 18 you see the two flow fence items on the wings. The port one is white, the starboard one is as the moulding plastic. Guess why? Although I have laminate flooring with no gaps I lost the original part and had to rebuild it. Took me a while.

Chris AuthorThis kit is very much older than I am, it dates back to 1965. Therefore it is in some cases very simple and not accurate. The additional tools are half molded, some parts of the exhaust-system are missing. The Calliope part is a newer sprue from 2009 and looks better. I found an article from a modeller who modded this kit enormous. As I have an additional Sherman (with the LCM landing vehicle) I will try to improve my next Sherman in some details:

I like those old kits, they remind me from my childhood, therefore I can recommend it. If you like exact modern kits, leave it 😉
Weathering in 1:72 / 1:76 is very often overdone. I try to do just a little bit, so it does not look like fresh from the store. I use Vallejo Air colors and use them with brushes in many layers.
Have fun with this little gem. 😄

Chris AuthorFinished after almost 4 weeks. No PE parts, no resin, no weathering - almost useless in this scale. All you can see is the silhouette, the size in comparison and an overview of the superstructure. Maybe I will use it as background - photographing one of my 1:72 planes.
