This was one of the most challenging and frustrating builds I've ever done. Despite putting in over 110 hours, the kit just had too many problems to be show worthy and I got sloppy and lazy at the end. Nothing fit and the instructions were poor and often lacked steps or misidentified part numbers. There is a lot of detail and a lot of fiddly bits that I kept breaking off, but she looks good from a distance. Just another Kitty Hawk build.

Typical Kitty Hawk kit - nothing fit very well and it took a lot of work to make it look good, but I'm always lured in by the box art. The main rotor blades were severely warped inside the box and weren't salvageable, so I used a 3D printed set made by a friend. The new set also warped slightly after they completely dried, but they're much better than the box, albeit they lack a lot of the smaller detail. I had never done a lizard color scheme before so I decided to give it a go with this Japanese livery and was pleased with the results and it was much easier than I thought. Reference pictures show that Japan kept these looking fairly clean, but I wanted to add quite a bit of weathering nonetheless just to keep things interesting.
