This kit is awesome, everything fits together so that any seam is covered/not visible somehow. The decals are nice too, the data stencils are clustered in groups of the same carrier film so it's a lot less work getting everything on. One flaw with the option I picked: the long black decal on the spine can't be applied until the metal tail part is attached, and the instructions tell you to paint/decal before that.

Thanks all for the kind comments! this kit has been challenging and totally worth its time. Doing it together with the Protar/Italeri one showed how much more detailed the Hasegawa kit is. The GP Modelling engine has been an overall good addition, while it presents its challenges, while the Renaissance PE detail-up has been a bit of a hit-and-miss, but not bad overall.

I can only agree with Thomas. Some mighty nice paint job here - with the preshading particularly impressive. I am afraid that even with three hands and a foot my control wouldn't be sufficient for a similar quality.
Maybe it is still on your to-do-list, but as the instructions are not specific about them (at least thats what I have in the back of my head), I allow myself a reminder to paint the Nav-lights at the wing edges where the dotted triangles are.

Nigel, see the lower part of the kit box: you get the colored parts in 3 variants, so the buyer can click together different colored Smarts without need to paint it.
