The kit was the French version of the Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter called the Sopwith 1B.1. This was the single seat version

I wanted to try making a laminated propeller for future WWI aircraft in 1/48 scale. I was able to get some wood veneer and make two props to see how difficult it was to accomplish. The top prop is for the Sopwith 1B.1 and the bottom prop is for an Albatros C.III. It took about 2 hours to make each prop.

The Eduard Sopwith Camel (Bentley) kit comes with four engines. I built the other three and used the Clerget in the 1B.1

I did some work on the cockpit, but it is buried under the upper wing.

The Roden kit takes a bit of work. There is a lot of flash and thick parts.

Rigging is Albion Alloys Microtubing, GasPatch turnbuckles and Infini Aero Rigging.

Pierre the rigging is done using GasPatch resin or metal turnbuckles, hand made eyes from fine copper wire, Infini Aero Rigging and .5mm Albion Alloys micro tubing. You can look at some of Bughunter's work here on Scalemates to get a better idea of how it is done or look at some of the build logs from Mike Sandbagger Norris at mikesww1aircraftmodels.com/about.html The props are just 7 pieces of alternating color wood veneer glued into a blank and then cut and sanded to shape. Right now it is taking about 2 hours to get one prop ready for stain and varnish. I'm hoping to get that time down a little.
