Here’s where we start, Academy’s plastic looks good but the molds must be getting tired, there’s a bit of flash to contend with. The Eduard PE set looks daunting, but almost seems essential on this spindly little airplane with its big windows
My subject, found in “Luftwaffe Codes, Markings, & Units 1939-1945”. Further research shows that this Storch was in a ferry flight of Two that mistakenly landed on the Swiss side of the border with Italy. Both aircraft were confiscated by the Swiss Air Force. This one crashed during a high altitude rescue in 1948, the other is now in the Lucerne Transport Museum
Windows masked and all the major components sprayed with RLM70. Due to the spindly nature of this thing, I’ve decided to paint and do all the initial weathering before final assembly. We’ll see how that works.
Clear coated with gloss and decals applied. The decals are a mixture of the kits Balkenkreutzen, tail insignia from a techmod sheet, “Y”s from a generic Fantasy Print Shop sheet, and triangles from a Print Scale Bf.109 set.
