Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat (Eduard 1/48) - In progress

 

 

 

Fuselage glued together, filled in some of the minor seams on the top and the belly with a super glue. Also, I don't entirely trust the way how Eduard projected the attachment point between horizontal stabilizers and the fuselage, I decided to add a metal rod to strengthen the joint. 

Metal bar (cut from the small IKEA Allen wrench - I knew they will come in handy once 😄) in place, dry fit is great and the stabilizers hold in place even without any glue thanks to that bar. 

Wings and all control surfaces attached. 

A bit of detailing on the engine (not that you'll see much of it once it's hidden in the cowling...). 

Primed with Mr. Surfacer 1500, polished and added a bit of base colours + preshading. Ready for paint! 

 

...and 3 thin layers of Gunze H316 white later... 

Upper side airbrushed with Gunze H54 and H56 blue, both brightened with couple of drops of white paint. 

 

I finished decaling today and started giving it a bit worn look. I'm halfway through it, the plan is to add a bit more oils at the bottom and spray they exhaust trails.
