Big parts, too! 

 

Black pre-shade for the Cummins engine. 

The narrow Tamiya tape was there to mask the fan belts off from the engine colour which was airbrushed lightly over the black. 

 

I moved the rear axle frame mount further back, to add better realism. Actual trucks tend to have the rear wheels very close to the rear of the frame. 

The pin vise was used to make king pin holes at the steering axle stub pivots.
 

Brass tubing made a more sturdy tie rod for the steering axle. 

Workable steering established!
 

 

 

 

 

Special care was invested to assure a good engine cover/radiator grille/cab/frame fit. 

 

These AMT kits provide such nice, make-specific interiors! 

 

 

 

 

 

The kit fuel tanks were finished in Tamiya Glossy Aluminum Spray. 

Careful brush painting around the windows was done with Testors enamel. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the end, the engine cover panels were cemented together, but the whole assembly could be lifted off to show that amazing engine inside!
