Lockheed F-22A Raptop 1:72 Academy
Komentáre

Hello @Cristian, I've taken Vallejo Model Air and Metal Color, they mix up quite well. First, I've used Aggressor Gray as it is, next I've mixed it 1:1 with Exhaust manifold to get this brownish metal sheen. That was my mistake, as I probably needed less brownish color, for example, Steel, and with less metal paint (like 3 for Aggressor and 1 for Steel). The darkest color is fine - I've used Medium Gunship Grey and Steel 2:1. Also I used Jet Exhaust for nozzles but due to poor details, I didn't find the way how to realistically add effects.

Many thanks Maksim, great ideas for mixing and tips, I've taken notes for my Raptor.
Album info
I always considered "Raptor" quite a dull and boring aircraft, probably because it seems to be too futuristic and hi-tech. But I bought this inexpensive model kit from Academy to have it in my "museum".
Perhaps Raptor somehow sensed that I don't like it, as the project was prone to mistakes and bad luck. For example, I failed to fit the intake parts after they had been painted, so I just left them as they were instead the complete disassembly and repainting. I decided to take it easier and not to focus on failures.
I would not recommend this kit from Academy due to several reasons:
1) The canopy is too thick, so you need to cut the ejection seat to fit it.
2) The decals are made by Cartograf but I have a lot of flaws, like incorrect colors (too light), thick and rigid lacquer layer, edges riding up, etc.
3) Some panel lines are missing here and there.
4) Engine nozzles are under-engineered and poorly detailed.
As you can see on the photos, I didn't mix the main color properly - it is too tan/brownish and dark; the model resembles the aircraft as if it is seen in the setting sun. Also the "shark skin" is too visible due to my struggle to lay down the clear coat before decals.
I don't expect you to like this model but let it rest here, since I've spent 1.5 months trying to find inspiration and energy to complete it.
