Mig-29A Fulcrum A - DDR

The Academy kit is a steal, but needs quite some extra's, like the IR/Optical rangefinder. 

And the whole intake trunk (or lack thereof) is just sad.  

The wheel wells are even sticking into the space. 

Academy expects you to accept this... (or rather: mount the FOD doors closed, but then why supply the engine fans?) 

Anyway: back to the 3D printer of course 🙂 and print some decent ducts 

The wheel wells needed a bit of surgery too

Right, now that these are finished we can finally get that airframe going 

Installed only the front instrument panel for now 

The fit of this Academy kit already wasn't that great, but this is the price you pay for adding 3D-printed intake ducts inside.... :'-)
Let's hope it really fuses well after 24hrs. :-P 

After all the clampjng down these intakes are quite nicely flush in place now. Inside trunk works well. 

It is starting to look like a plane ... now comes a lot of filling, sanding, filling and sanding to get it smooth 

Most of the assembly done now 🙂 

Small update: mounted all the last fiddly bits and masked the clear parts in preparation for primer 

A coat of primer always cleans things up very nicely: I expected worse for the shapes at the seams. 

With the engine nacelles eventually looking very nice and flush everywhere
