The build was pretty free of drama, Following the directions and good things will follow. I did try a recommendation to glue the under side of the wings to the fuselage before attaching the upper wings. Next time I will go back to glueing the leading edge of the upper and lower wings before attaching to the fuselage.

Euro Decals 48143 Spitfire MK VB is the driving force in this build, but I ended up using one of the Eduard schemes (sort of). I painted the invasion stripes before applying the camouflage, but I noticed significant differences in the placement of the wing stripes between the Euro Decals and Eduard's drawings. The TopNotch Invasion Stripe Set provided a template that indicated the outside edge of the wing stripe should be 18 inches from the Roundel . While Eduard's drawing matched the TopNotch template, the Euro Decals may still be accurate for the aircraft depicted. It appears that invasion stripes are not an exact science!I

The Eduard decals applied smoothly and conformed well when using Micro Set and Sol. Instead of attempting to peel off the top layer, I simply applied a gloss coat over them before proceeding with my usual weathering techniques. Once the decals dried, I noticed a discrepancy between Eduard's version of "Sky" and AK Real Colors, with Eduard's interpretation being much paler. To resolve this, I used DK Decals' SKY letters to cover the Eduard decals, resulting in a much more accurate match to the Sky fuselage band.

As for the TopNotch TNM48-L001 1/48 Invasion Stripes Mask Set, it was a bit of a mixed blessing. While it greatly assisted in achieving vertical fuselage stripes, I found the stripes themselves were too short, particularly on the wings. It seems that these stripes may have been designed for either a 1/72 or 1/32 scale kit and then scaled for 1/48. For my next build, I'll opt for 3/8-inch drafting tape instead.
