I did a pretty fair job of soldering the 3 piece grill photo etch sub assembly.

Great KV. I like the camo and the " rough" steel. The wathering is perfect.

Hi James, I am just preparing all parts, haven't assembled the model yet.
What did you use for filtering? Oil paints?
1 November 2013, 15:04

..For the filter I used SIN productions ?Tri Tonal Camo?; it?s kind of brownish???..I almost thought of hitting the KV again at the end with it.
The oils are a mixed bag in terms of manufacturers?.but the colors where primarily white, blue and dark green???.it?s that blue that really adds depth. Oil dots of titanium white bring out the ww??..IMHO??.
Rusting was a mix of pigments, washes, oils and acrylics????.

It's hard to go wrong with the oils and pigments, Matthias, they are quite forgiving. The filters on the other hand; you'd best be pretty sure of what you want. That's why I didn't hit the finished build with one more coat of brownish filter.

Alright, thx. for the advice. I'll figure it out somehow. I have never worked with oils and pigments so that will be my test than.

Write a book? Nope, everything you see is just stuff I picked up from fellow Scale Mates and books/DVD?s by guys like Adam Wilder and Mig Jimenez??.give me about 10 years of bench time and we?ll see???Thanks for the compliment!
And Matthias, you?ll love those oils and pigments. They open up a whole new dimension in finishing a build.

Morning from China...
Well I'm for sure quite 20-30 years away from writing books and I also try to grap as many ideas and teicks from mates as you do. But don't worry, I won't copy you.😉
I am currently picking pigments and oils from the webshop but I'm not sure how good they are. Does anyone know a brand named Angel Model Hobby?
