Lockheed SP-2H Neptune (Royal Netherlands Navy Air Arm (MLD)

Great build! Growing up as a kid in Katwijk I've seen a lot of low passes by Neptunes and Orions over the beach in summertime 👍

Hello Wim,
As a young man, I went on my moped from Vlaardingen to Katwijk. Sandwiches and hot tea. Waiting for sometimes absolutely nothing. But on a good day, the Tracker, Neptune, Brequet and the Beechcraft C-45 Expeditor. Those days are not coming back.
Regards. Dirk

Update-New pictures with flight crew and vehicles
Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft that did sterling service to the Netherlands Navy.
Hasegawa 1/72 scale with Eduard Cockpit complete and Eduard Bomb bay.
VW bus and Landrover from PJ productions (Now Airfix) in scale 1/72.
Diorama "Search and Rescue Flight":
From 1962 until 1982 the SAR flight consisted out of the Agusta Bell 204 and the Neptune (or Brequet Atlantic). If a ship was in distress at a longer distance from the coast, the Neptune was alerted and took off simultaneously with the Agusta Bell. The Neptune would locate the ship and guide the Agusta Bell in to the ship. The Neptune would also function as a flying command post, to coordinate the complete rescue, so that the helicopter crew could focus on the task of rescuing the crew.
The Neptune performed sterling service to the Netherlands Navy. To my knowledge also the last aircraft that had senior NCO's and officers out of the ranks in the cockpit.
Enjoy, Dirk 2018
