Thomas, maybe you want to wait for the Wolfpack seat, is might be a bit more comfortable 😉

I'm curious. If you take the MC decals and the Wolfpack Set, it will be a beauty😉

Chaps, thanks a lot for your nice comments.
Gordon: yes the bright red is a kind of a challenge, I am pretty sure she will not have the common SAF livery (the red-white one everybeody puts on their Mk66 Hawk).
Dave, Patrick: the IPs are cut out from the PE parts from the kit, I guess it is nicer than the WP resin IPs. I know I am a slow builder, still a lot of work in the kit until now.
Thomas: I hope the next couple of weeks give me more chance to crawl under my stone (aka go to my hobby room 😉 ) to gain a bit more progress. And shoot more pix.

Hans, according to the information I have, the livery lived just a couple of days, she was then re-painted to the commonly seen scheme (red, gray and black). Since I prefer to have my planes in liveries not always seen, this was an easy choice 🙂

Thomas, the Hawk looks very nice. Which color did you use for the red part?

Hi Marco.
This is the standard Tamiya Acrylic X7 / XF7, I have seen it is pretty close to the RAL 3020. The white crosses are masked out, the masks are included with the Matterhorn decals 🙂

Thanks Thomas. I always have problems to reach a rich red, I think I have to try this one from tamiya too. Matterhorn decals are one of my next purchase😉

Matterhorn Decals are a very good choice. I guess they invest a lot of time into historical research to have them printed correctly.
And the rich red should be no problem if you apply over a yellow or a white base. However, Tamiya colors are my preferred ones anyway, besides the Gunze Aqueous 🙂

Fantastic result Thomas! I wish I am 1:48 so I could take a seat in the cockpit 🙂

Nathan,
this was a short term Swiss marking. It was used for the transfer from UK to Switzerland. After a couple of days it was modified to the regular livery, which looks like the UK and the Finnish one, I guess there are some more Air Forces using it. This white one is much more appealing (at least to my taste). I found just two pictures plus the profile from Matterhorn Circle, there will be little proof that I did something wrong
Thanks for your comment, also to Spanjaard!

The swiss were sold to Finland. I hope you keep it, looks fantastic!

Thank you both. @Mirko: The real U-1251 found ca cozy place after retirement in the F&F Museum in Dübendorf (near Zurich). This one was not sold to Finland, and since I like those colorful models in my display, there is no reason to get rid of it 😄

Wise choice on the colour scheme, Thomas. Very nicely done, and very arresting compared to the alternatives!😉

Nice work on the big canopy clear part. When I look at sprue parts for this type of model in kits, the big canopy part always looks weird to me, as if the framing is molded wrong. Maybe I am imagining that, but somehow that one part always looks weird to me when looking at model kits of this jet.

Wow, I missed this one Thomas! Fantastic work as usual my friend! That paint is immaculate! Simply perfect...

Thanks for your kind words, they make me a bit shy.
@Nigel: My aim is to have alternative color schemes im my collection, moreover I prefer this scheme to the standard. 'Föifer und Weggli' situation (sorry, Swiss German saying) 😛
@Treehugger: The shape of the moulded cord is basically correct, compared to the original the look in the sprue part is a bit strange, I agree. On the other hand, the vynil cords are a bit too prominent, however, I prefer that over the standard look. Additionally it is a challenge to place the vynil cords into the canopy.
@Michael: By far not perfect, however I can see progress in my work 🙂

Well done early marking of a swiss air force hawk. As a proposal: a slight aging would make the step behind the cockpit less evident.
