Worked on the interior this weekend. Took the pre-painted interior from the black Chevelle kit and added minor touches with chrome Molotow pen.

Made more progress today. Did all the Bare Metal Foil and added the black SS stripes. Unfortunately they are so old they look gator grain vinyl. But they are all I have. Next up are some photoetch emblems.

I don't think so. He didn't take very good care of the last one someone gave him LOL

I got the photoetch emblems on today. I have to let them be. Next step Future clear coat. I am not brave enough to clear coat an off brand paint with any real solvent based clearcoat. (I don't have any more SS stripes to start over.

Well.... My Future clear coat didn't go as planned. Played with the roof too long and left brush strokes in it. Also got a run AND a kitty hair in the driver's side quarter panel. The good news is with Future you can erase your boo boos with a Q-tip and some ammonia cleaner.

Decals, BMF, photoetch and clearcoat done. I learned I CAN put teeny tiny decals on tiny photoetch parts AND I can put tiny photoetch parts on decals. YAY!

Craft store enamel. Clear coated in Future which I believe is Acrylic.

Body finally finished. (Took 4 tries to get clear coat on roof acceptable) Installed windows and rear view mirror. (Most of the time I forget to)

James and Chris, Thanks. Doing spark plug wires is kind of a pain but it makes engines look much more realistic.

Thanks, You can make them your self with 16 gauge solid wire. That is how I made theses. "Hot Wheels" 1968 El Camino (not a donk) | Album by musclecarfan

This one is finally DONE! I need to take some pics but I have been spending most of my free time preparing my house to paint it this weekend.

It only took 6 weeks but I finally got pics of the first Chevelle to be finished. Check out the album as I have added new and removed many pics.

What a sweet build. 👍
I am liking the chrome surrounds on the windows in bare metal foil.
Top job. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Great looking Chevelle, Bill! First thought I had was Jack Reacher too...

Thank you Chris. I try to shoot outdoors so the color is true. My indoor pics are hit and miss,

Album info
This model is an approximation of the real Chevelle my friend Mike M. had right after we graduated high school. It was a true SS 396 in red with black stripes, black interior and black vinyl top. It was a 4-speed and the engine was built up with Holley, Edelbrock and Hooker parts. The thing was bad fast too. We had to go WAY out to the country to look at it which helped as they only wanted $1000 for it. If it wasn't, it would have been snatched up long before we got there. This model is the closest to box stock as I have ever built. I did add some photo etch emblems. I am about 70% happy with the paint and 95% happy with all the details.
