Did the last touch up on the C-pillar. Prepped most of the chassis and interior parts in the hopes I can spray them tomorrow. (if the humidity is low enough)

Completed the interior this weekend. Brush painted the package shelf at the last minute. I am not sure I am happy with the results. Though this one has tinted windows so it may not show.

Got to put on some BMF today. It is actually one of my favorite tasks! 🙂

Installed the detailed front turn signals and photoetched SS 454 emblems. Still hesitant to clear coat it with clear lacquer, Future or just let it be. I need to test some Keith Marks decals on a spoon to see if they will tolerate lacquer.

I applied the silver SS stripes today. My Q-tips got a workout finessing all the wrinkles of them. I am 99.4% happy with the results. Still working up the courage to shoot Testors clear lacquer over it.

Finished BMF on drip rails. Added "Chevelle" decal to trunk lid. Test sprayed clear lacquer on hood. No adverse effects on the SS stripes YAY!!!. Need to wait for low humidity to spray clear on whole body.

I thought the RootBeer 72 was a gorgeous colour but this is on another level! 😉

I agree. It is one of the prettiest metallic blues I have ever seen.

The shine is the magic of Testors "Wet Look" clear lacquer. I am deathly afraid of sanding on painted surfaces.

This evening I painted the filled in gap at the base of the windshield. Tomorrow I hope to install the competed interior in to the body.

I forgot to ask before Bill, do leave the rims on solid metal bar? I can see drilling out the rear axle housing to install it would work well but the front axles stumped me!

My models are for display. They are not treated like toys. So to me STANCE is much more important than being able roll. So MOST of the time I glue the wheels in place to obtain the perfect stance. Once in a while the axles get it done. I would NOT drill a nearly finished model because wheels and tires are generally the LAST parts to go in the car.

Ta for clearing that up Bill.
I often glue mine solid too, if only cos I'm so hamfisted I'll break stuff off when I clean them.
I've noticed the stance on your cars is always just right, it's worth the effort.

Well I can´t name all the bolts & valves that changed between a ´68 and ´69 version of a particular car, as some people here certainly can, but I can say when I really like something I see, which is the case here - the blue coat & the stripes look just great, as look all the other different shiny metal parts of this build. Very nice indeed 👍

Slavo Thank you. This one is well on its wat to being one of my best.

O.k Bill, I know some glass packs were red, but I've never seen red mufflers. I know artistic discretion.
22 August 2019, 14:25

I had some CherryBomb Turbo mufflers on a 71 Charger that were bright red Tim.
Bill says it's among his best but all his models look like 'bests' to me😉

I always thought they were Kool now I wanna buy a pair!
See what you've done? LOL !!!
22 August 2019, 16:18

Well, that's the brand, I've only seen the hot dog shaped ones. I've learned something new! LOL
22 August 2019, 17:53

You are right. Cherry Bomb mufflers were the inspiration. But now it is kind of a signature detail that brighten ups the boring bottom of the car.

Add another Chevelle to the DONE column. I am pretty happy with how this one turned out. Probably my BEST paint job EVER.

The blue & silver stripes make an excellent match, worthy of the trials of direct sunlight - top finish 👍

Go ahead and run them. I am curious who they were stolen from. haha.

Album info
My first 1972 Chevelle. It is an SS 454 painted with Star Spangled Blue Testors lacquer. The stripes are Keith Marks waterslide decals in silver. The interior is black and white. I used body colored Corvette rallys from my parts box and widened the rears. After BMF, colored Sharpie details, and decals, it was clear coated with Testors "Wet Look" clear. I am REALLY happy with the paint job.
