I want to know this as well. 🙂 It had me wondering.
I guess, what you want to do, is test this approach first, so that you know what the light color will finally look like dry, after airbrushing it over the darker color.

For the ones wondering the paintwork methode: I did the dark green first the the light lines.
I had to repaint the back 3 times to get the size of the lines as small as possible.
(It was really hot and paint dried as a lunatic.)
The decals are from the kit itself.
