That is a beautiful lead sled. Looks like she has a sister in the background. Well done!

Everybody tends to do a conventional flame paint job on a 49 Merc. I wanted something different. I left the unpainted body sit on a paint stand and would try to Envision what I could see with the body lines. Finally one day I looked down on the body and saw how aerodynamic the upper body looked. So I masked the upper body and saw the teardrop shape. I, then tried to blend the fenders in to give the effect of speed.

The copper color is Alclad. There are many colors coming together from Gold Cadmium, various heat tones and finally the copper. Just like with other flame types of techniques, you are only done when you're satisfied with the look you have achieved.

This model was painted using Alclad the basic shell was painted using Alclad Polished Aluminum over Alclad Black Base and the Marbled Flames were created using Alclad colors till I achieved the desired effect. The wheels are 1/24th scale 18 inch Advan Racing R6 with 15 inch tires from the Testors Aluma Coupe forced onto the 18inch wheels.
The finish was sealed with 2K Clear by Speedocote.
