After almost twenty years since i built my last model in childhood, then rediscovering the hobby and it's possibilities through Night Shift on youtube, i finished my first model.
This is pretty much a paint & build mule with which i tried to learn weldmaking, airbrushing, weathering and handpainting with vallejo paints. I basically started with priming, basecoating, post shading, sponge chipping, didn't like the result, covered the whole thing in chipping fluid, sprayed an olive drab layer, chipped it, gloss coated and decalled it, matt coated it, dusted it, added mud & pigments, washed it, chipped it, washed it and then what brought it all together was a dry brush application of abteilung 502 bitumen paint. Most of the battle damage is around where i f-ed up during the building process, the decals ripped or i chipped down to the plastic. I built a 1/72 Heller Sherman along with it in the same process.
I am more than happy with how it came out, especially considering i was hesitant to try airbrushing with the 80€ timbertech set and vallejo paints, which seem to have such a bad rep around these parts. The pile of sha.. anticipation is already pretty large and i can't wait to build more stuff!
Please feel free to tell me anything you would add and change, especially ideas for dioramas!
