BMD-2 Full Stock kit with Vallejo Colors

I tried to make a more modern vehicle afte rmy two WW2 tanks, in order to experiment with much faster, less layered, cleaner and less weathered exteriors. The opposite happened, partly because of the era of the vehicle, my inexperience and partly because of the cheap kit. For 13€ you shouldn't complain, but the quality of the plastic and general construction (the single position turret and non articulated barrel especially) left me wanting for a lot more - and i am horrified by the vynil tracks and the super fragile roadwheel axles- nethertheless, i wanted this to be a quick one, so here we go.

So far this is a two-faced build. My workflow of primer>alu/metallic basecoat> camo base coat ended up not so nice. i probably used too much chipping fluid, painted too thick of a layer of base coat and chipped the whole thing with too much water. I only then started using a damper brush to chip. this is why one side of the vehicle is covered in lots of mud, the other in not so much, and generallly there's a lot of heavy chips. after mudding, decals worked well and the current state is satiscfactory for me, although pretty over-dusted. I assume an oil filter and focussed washes will bring it together in the end. i find the contrast between the aluminium hulll and steel turret interesting - i wanted to create a kind of complentary contrast between the reddish rusted turret and the blueish-muddy hull.
