Dan Air Flight 1903 was a tragic accident that occurred on **July 3, 1970**. Operated by a **de Havilland Comet 4**, the flight was on a charter route from **Manchester, England** to **Barcelona, Spain**. As the plane approached Barcelona's airport, it was mistakenly cleared to descend while still over mountainous terrain. Sadly, the aircraft crashed into the **Les Agudes mountain** in the Montseny Range, about 30 miles northeast of Barcelona. All **112 people on board** lost their lives.
The accident was ultimately attributed to **air traffic control errors** and **miscommunication**, with controllers giving descent clearance that put the plane on a collision course with the mountains. It stands as one of the deadliest aviation disasters in Spain's history at the time and a somber reminder of the crucial importance of precise communication in aviation.
