This kit was one of my daughter's kits (Revell 03651). She started it but soon lost interest and left me to finish the job. I decided to challenge myself and see what I could do with just regular tools, putty, paint and an airbrush. It has been described as the worst Revell kit available ever and I could see that if you would just stick to clicking it together and painting it with the colors mentioned in the plans. I however decided to reference it's bigger brothers from different brands to see what other colors could be used. I ended up using about 10 colors rather than the 4 or 5 mentioned in the instructions. I also glued the parts together instead of just clicking them.
Paints used are:
Revell enamel paints
Mr Hobby Black and White primer
Vallejo Acrylic Satin Varnish (just in case I wanted to weather with enamel washes)
I ended up deciding against washing the aircraft, especially since the original was pretty clean and I already had some tonality with the black basing.
I didn't take too many photographs, since I was busy enjoying the painting process too much... Enjoy!
cover photo shows the aircraft I modeled it after @ St Louis international in September of 1991, picture is from Airliners.net.
I just noticed I omitted the reflecting stripes on the sides, just may add those later on and take some more shots.
