Personal interest:
The 8th Fighter Squadron from Holloman AFB, New Mexico deployed to Kuwait with their F-117As in response to Iraq attacking its Kurdish population. There was intent to use these F-117s in the subsequent Operation Desert Strike to punish Iraq for its actions and degrade their ability to attack the Kurds. This plan was ultimately changed to use exclusively air and ship-launched cruise missiles. The F-117s remained in Kuwait for some time as a deterrent before returning to Holloman AFB.
