Personal interest:
Iraq acquired over 100 Roland 2 SAM systems from France in the 1980s. With a very quick missile and ability to engage targets up to 4 miles away and with altitude of up to 18,000 feet, the Roland 2 was a dangerous system for Operation Southern Watch aircrews. The Roland 2 systems mounted on the AMX-30 tank chassis were often used with Iraqi "SAM trap" tactics.
