Personal interest:
Iraq fielded over 60 9K31 systems during the Gulf War, and most of those were likely still operational during Operation Southern Watch. The 9K31 is primarily a battalion-level system and was associated with air defense of Iraqi Army assaults on its rebelling Shi'ite and Kurdish populations. The 9K31 was primarily a threat to coalition CAS and FAC missions.
