Fun fact gentlemen: I once read somewhere that the Australian troops in the desert had plenty of farmers in their Light Horse Brigades. They helped solve the problem of driving on the sand, by laying down chicken wire, to make 'roads' - just like back at home. Worked like a primitive Marsden Matting, but quicker and easier.

First Model T is nearly complete, and the chaps have had some time to pack some luggage for the trip. Need to add condenser tank and pipe from the radiator cap and attach Badnold's sun compass on the front dash.

Still in the planning and kit acquisition phase (mainly due to current finances).
There are a number of pictures of the later expeditions utilising the newer Ford Model A both before and after being stripped and specially converted for their needs, but I can't find any of the earlier vehicles so there will be some artistic licence when it comes to the vehicles themselves. From descriptions in the book Libyan Sands, Bagnold's own vehicle and one other seem to be four seaters with standard bodies as he talks about not having much room for supplies in the rear seats. The third vehicle was a two seater bought by Lt. Bader at the persuasion of Bagnold and the others, after they had singled him out as the most likely candidate to join them. Somewhat fortuitously, for them, shortly after they had 'recruited' him he had a night time altercation with an unlit level crossing gate thereby wrecking his previous car and he subsequently bought a Ford.

I've finally got around to starting this project. This is now depicting an earlier adventure when the group used pretty much unmodified Model Ts before they acquired Model As. The first of the model Ts is under construction. This journey would be the first crossing from Cairo to Siwa Oasis by motor car, an 800 mile round trip during which they had to carry all supplies necessary for the trip with them.
