Can anybody solve a mystery? I have in my possession several 1:48 scale Boulton Paul Defiants. 2 Airfix, 2 Classic Airframes and 1 Flashback Models. The Classic Airframes kits are different and are clearly not from the same mould. CA Number 471 is from 2004 and has injection clear parts and different photo etch parts from earlier kit. CA Number 404 is from the mid 90's and has vac form acetate clear parts. The Flashback kit, number KLH8914 is from 1995 and is identical with only minor decal variations, to the CA 404 kit. Here lies the mystery, both these identical kits are listed with Scalemates.com as "New Tool". Clearly one must have come first and the other a re-issue. So, is it a CA or a Flashback mould? I am unable to find an answer anywhere.

Both kits were "Limited Run" suggesting they weren't made for very long. The decals may have solved mystery. CA ones are marked 1995 and the Flashback ones are marked "Eduard 1997". I think that answers the question.
