Hi Pascal,
I can certify that you are not a masochist or crazy!
Since I like to scratch build, I can understand very well your motives to built such an unique gem!!!
I wish you a steady hand and stay tuned with this famous project!
Since you have already made a Skycrane, I'm sure it can only get better 🙂 🙂
Thumbs up!
18 July 2013, 00:54

18 July 2013, 21:34

@Greg

19 July 2013, 21:47

Hi Greg, yes, Alexander is right this is the revell kit in 1/72
20 July 2013, 07:07

The more i see, the more i know. this is so wonderfull to see this.
26 July 2013, 09:03

Hi all,
just an updates of 2 pics, this time she is on her undercarriage! Wheels are also ready..more than 10 wheels casted just to retain 5...
26 July 2013, 13:32

You must be getting assistance from a hive of highly trained ants, Pierre. That is a lot of tiny detail, and very well executed. 👍
26 July 2013, 13:50

Wow!!! my friend this album is awesome!. Thx for share them, good luck Pierre!
28 June 2014, 13:14

Are you going to help the world and cast some of your updates for the rest of us to use?
28 June 2014, 19:22

this is an awesome build, I stumbled across this googling the subject.

29 June 2014, 10:55

Hi all,
3 years now working on this project..I begin to see the end of the tunnel, painting as started! I've upload some pics to illustrate my very slow progress!!
cheers
5 July 2014, 20:57

Pierre; this is unbelievable what you have done on the skycrane!!!!
"I will appreciate any comments and critics". Criticism? What do you mean, Pierre? I'm enjoying each of the pictures, especially the 3 last of the rotor head, and hope for more "on the bench" pictures". Thanks for sharing.
6 July 2014, 18:19

Bernhard: Comming from the mad guy who built from A to Z the fantastic NH-3A I really enjoy this nice com!
21 January 2015, 20:36

God.. after this and Bernhards..i might just skip building choppers..
amazing work
21 January 2015, 21:50

Hi Augie and thanks!! (you too Bukhard!) After what Bernhard did I might just return playing Legos with my son...
21 January 2015, 22:35

what ??? no Pierre !!
this is great work thus far, it needs finishing 🙂
21 January 2015, 22:39

well when you can I guess but don't give up though, I've been following this one for ages !!!!! 😄
whats left to do ?
Glass windows, masking, painting, decaling, weathering, wheels and then final assembly ?
21 January 2015, 22:55

This work is Awesome, and you my friend such a great builder!!, can't wait to see this project finished. Keep on it!!!
24 January 2015, 07:08

Outstanding job going on here, this work is truly an inspiration, makes me wanna take mine out of the box. I'm following it😉
20 February 2015, 09:11

WOW, nothing more to say. By the way, my favorit helicopter.
20 February 2015, 20:27

Thank to all for the kind comments. This build is (very) slowly progressing...almost all the small parts are ready, I'm just waiting to have enough time at home to start the painting process.
I'll update the post as soon as I 've made significant progress!!
23 February 2015, 16:19

This is an evidence of patience and a good eye for the detail - Impressive work!
23 February 2015, 19:00

This really is the crown of modelmaking. You make us all look like blacksmiths 🙂.
23 December 2016, 14:54

Unbelievable!!!!!!!! I've seen many astounding models on SM, but I think that this may be the best I've seen yet! I built this kit about forty years ago and has remained my favourite helicopter. The model I ended up with, from the same kit, was a million miles away from your masterpiece.
23 December 2016, 15:26

This is jaw-droppin´, Pierre! I saw some cool other skycranes in the past but this one plays in the most upper league!
23 December 2016, 16:10

Pierre: just in time in my opinion as THE BEST SCM MODEL OF THE 2016!!! Please more close up pictures!!!
23 December 2016, 16:34

Well that's awesome! What did you do to the nose? I've always found that the nose and glass for this kit wasn't right. And your rhinoplasty came out well! I'm very curious about this, because I've got one in my stash awaiting its turn as well...
23 December 2016, 16:57

Since it's abolutely impossible to build details like that in 1/72, it's time to reveal the obvious: You were able to invent and build a shrink ray !😮
23 December 2016, 18:19

Seriosly, that's insane....are you professionally involved with these helicopters somehow? That's probably the only way you could get enough background information for such a level of detail...and could you estimate how many working hours you spent on it? Thanks and again...hats off
23 December 2016, 18:29

Hi Bernhard, in the category "the ever longest f.@x§g project I was stupid enough to start" maybe..I'm glad you like it, it's the best award I can have!
Flynn, like almost 100% of this build, the complete front including clear parts were scrathed built and/or vacuformed. Thanks for the comments gents and meery Xmas to all!
23 December 2016, 18:33

Pierre, that is Absolutly Gorgeous!!! I really love the way you work on the models and the amount of details is awesome!! Congratulation this this one too and have great Merry Christmas!!
23 December 2016, 18:40

Wow...! A model of superlatives. The many homemade details and everything in my favorite dimension, respect! 👍
23 December 2016, 18:45

i am speechless with attention to detail, the scratch building abilities and the final paint result. a true master piece, award winning quality. my respect and admiration
24 December 2016, 00:29

That's one impressive model !!! Congrats for your detail work and patience
27 December 2016, 07:33

Thank you for the nice comments gents, mch appreciated. I've uploaded few pics with some additions around Geronimo.
28 December 2016, 09:32

If it wasn't for the plastic figures next to it, I would have said it was a real 'copter. Fantastic work. Well done.
28 December 2016, 21:10

Congratulation it is truly stupendous. Five years, good god, what is next on your agenda after that???
31 December 2016, 17:24

Hi Scott
Thanks for the comment. At the moment I don't know yet which helo will be next, I hesitate between taking some rest with a "modern" kit (Mil-Mi 17 Hobby Boss but converted to Mi-17Z2 with Ciro resin parts) or once agai updating an old kit (Belvedere, Rotodyne, Bo-105 etc etc). Inspiration will tell! I simply cannot build OOB!!!
Happy New year!!!
31 December 2016, 18:48

(I simply cannot build OOB!!!). Haunted by the after market ghost, and scratch (build) where it itches!? Very recognizable 😉 Also a Happy New Year!
1 January 2017, 09:22

Out of this word.... I dont have any other word to explain... 🙂
Congrats!!!!!
19 July 2018, 04:13

Clunk...... Did you hear that? That was my jaw dropping on the floor....
19 July 2018, 04:47

I remember seeing this quite some time ago and thought it was amazing! I did an Erickison version some time ago with a lot of scratch building but you took it even further great detail on the engine/transmission setup. Looks fantastic! 🙂
20 July 2018, 03:05

An absolutely awesome job on that build Pierre. All these Details...
A piece of art.
20 July 2018, 03:15

Would be great in 1:32... probably even in 1:1, textbook job, just glorious... 👍
7 June 2019, 19:07

The metal pins for the rotor blades, are those for rotating the rotor blades, or just for support?
8 June 2019, 07:55

Interesting photo with the foam in a box. I bought an Ikea drawer for keeping multiple unfinished builds ready in that drawer, but I think I should try get a thin foam mat and put it at the bottom of each drawer. Ikea product: ikea.com/no/no/p/ale..-hjul-hvit-40196241/
8 June 2019, 07:59

Great work, I was amazed already when I found pics of the orange one.. but mighty fine detail work... Splendid work, really splendid...
12 June 2019, 15:19

I really wish someone would do a 1:48 Skycrane. So many versions you could make...
12 June 2019, 15:38

Holy fire fighters Batman. !!! How to get me glued to my monitor for a couple of hours. !
I have seen them in action and the sounds and smell were wonderful. This would look good sitting on the desk of the relative fire fighters office some where in Italy............FOR SURE. 👍 👍 👍 👍
13 June 2019, 10:56

That is the best Scratch Work I have ever Seen!!! You are the modelling god🙏🏼 It is perfect
9 November 2022, 22:50

Thanks for retrieving this build so that I too can enjoy this absolute masterclass in modelling. Absolutely incredible.
9 November 2022, 23:58

This build predates my time here, and my own subsequent return to this hobby. So all new to me. Just WOW! I can't really add anything else can I. It's all been rightly already said... Loved the album and am in awe of your skill and work 👏👏👏👏 and it's 1:72!!!
9 November 2022, 23:59

Very impressive! At first glance I thought it was a reference pic until I saw the base.
10 November 2022, 09:17

This is breathtaking. I just finished the same kit - and didn´t even start to bother about improving anything, since the details are so awful. The amount of work you put into this is insane! Hats off, you truly are a modeling master.
17 August 2023, 11:31

Out of this world modelling. I always wonder, with such massive scratch works: do you follow blueprints for the big parts such as the legs, or just take the original parts for overall dimensions, angles, etc? It usually takes me quite a lot of time searching for reliable blueprints, and this is not always a fruitful effort.
Have to get myself a vacform machine soon 😉
Congrats on this fantastic piece of art!
17 August 2023, 14:28

What I would give to see the ICM mob put out a fire fighting version of their sky crane.
I am so envious . !!!
This is a stunning rendition of what this beast has turned into over the years. 👍
A superb job. You must be really pleased and proud of the result. !
Well done. 👍 😉
21 August 2023, 22:09

This is truly remarkable. I don't even know how to describe it. Great job!!
12 September 2023, 03:34

Incredible work performed ! Awesome results ! What a beautiful models 😍😍😍Congratulations Pierre 👏
19 December 2023, 21:15

Commented 10 years ago, commenting again. This is among the most impressive modeling I have ever seen. This level of masochism is scary and I hope the creator is doing well...👍
20 December 2023, 00:57

Respect, this is an astonishingly incredible build. Just wow, my compliments to you sir 🫡!
26 December 2023, 17:50
Album info
I finally managed to complete this looooooooong project!! Geronimo made its roll out yesterday after 5 years on my bench...
As I don't want to forget one of the several friends and modellers who encouraged and supported me throughout this built I thank you all!
