Hello Klaus, thats a perfect phantom! Love it! Also like the pilots and nice details like the wire to the ground...FANTASTIC WORK!
14 August 2014, 05:24

Hello Klaus, absolutely beautiful - as I told you already elsewhere. 😉
14 August 2014, 09:22

Hallo Klaus, wie bekomme ich die frontscheibe so sauber grün getönt?
14 August 2014, 19:25

Klasse Modell, gekonnt in Szene gesetzt! Die Fotos sind spitze!
Applaus, Applaus!😉
14 August 2014, 19:37

@Christian Ristits: Die Scheibe ist mit einer Mischung aus Tamiya X-25 clear green und Future, verdünnt mit Tamiya (X-20A) mit dem Pinsel lackiert.

The anhedral on your horizontal stabs are off by +0.0046 degrees. (Maybe you didn't have enough rivets. You DID count them, didn't you?) I get real sarcastic when I see flawless builds. It makes me feel small and inadequate! Seriously - a VERY nice build. Congrats on your hard work.
15 August 2014, 06:28

Thank you Klaus! For me your build is one of the most faszinating builds I have ever seen on scalemates, also the photos are realy well done! It makes my actual F-4 very very small 😉 Thank you for the tip, I will try to get some X-25...as Revell do not provide a clear green in aqua color. Cheers, Christian

A realy, realy great model.
especially live and in color.
Great work 👍
15 August 2014, 19:18

Thank you guys! I didn't expect so many positive comments! 😳 Thank you all!
16 August 2014, 05:04

Hut ab: sehr realistisch!! Als Referenz für meine F-4 gespeichert🙂
27 August 2014, 19:18

Awesome display, I love the F4 Phantom! During the Vietnam campaign my dad was crew chief of a Squadron of F4 C/D stationed in Europe for his time in the Air Force. Great work looks amazing!
29 August 2014, 07:13

Congratulations Klaus on an great build and display. Nice match to the photo of the real thing. 👍 I especially like the head on shot. Everything - canopies, wings, landing gear - perfectly in line. The ladder and crew and tarmac make a nice little scene. Very realistic.

Is this setting a record?? No doubt Klaus deserves it! I showed the pix to my son and he couldn't believe it was a model!
1 September 2014, 07:15

Thank you very much für all the kind words mates! I'm really happy, that you enjoy the Phantom so much!
I just added a few building pics to the album. May be interesting too (I hope so..😉 ).
3 September 2014, 14:49

Wow. Amazing work. It looks like you used decal mask on the upper fuselage to protect it from overspray. I didn't know you could even do that! great tip 🙂
3 September 2014, 15:40

Thank you!
@Todd: The green stuff is MrMasking Sol R by Gunze, the borderline is masked with 0.4mm masking tape by Aizu. Thats a really nice working combination. You can protect a large area without much work. I first tried it on this project, and it worked very well.

good work !!
how many days to apply the stencils ??
there must be about a thousand of them !!
13 October 2014, 00:06

Looking at this again, I'm like damn the decal sessions must have been epic!
13 October 2014, 00:30

I think there is more decals here than I have applied in my life !!!
not to mention the difficulty of keeping track of what went where, epic aint the word 🙂
I'll revise my earlier question, how many weeks ???

Thank you all! 🙂
And a special thank to Erik!!! He gave me this wonderful kit and brought me to the 57th FIS Version! Thanks my friend, you know, how much I like this bird!
It took about 4 weeks to aply the stencils, but I´m surely not the fastest modeler.😉 All in all there are about 700 decals on the Phantom (within the sparrow markings).
13 October 2014, 03:36

@Soeren. The ICARUS Stencils are very easy to aply, they needed only a few seconds in the water and worked very fine with Mr. Mark Softer. I recommend this decal set, but I must admit: I don´t want to do this work on every model.
@Erik: A 57th F-102 is on the top of my wishlist. And I still have enough ADC grey to paint a Dagger. 🙂 But I'm not a fan of raised panel lines, even though this seem to be a very nice kit. I would prefer a 1/48-Version of the Meng kit. I still hope...😉
13 October 2014, 10:46

Hehe 🙂 Yeah that is something I can understand. Luckily my WWII models doesn't have this amount of decals. 🙂
13 October 2014, 11:01

I'd greatly appreciate if MENG released both a Case X and XX Deuce in quartescale. 👍
That said, and having spent endless hours in rescribing one of the venerable Monogram kits in my stash would have been a vain endeavour, though. I've got both the Encore kit and the decal sheet in my stash, and I place any bet, once I'll have started to tackle this project, MENG will be just about to release one.😉
13 October 2014, 11:08

Please would you start this project, Erik? That may be my chance to get the 1/48 Meng.😉😉
13 October 2014, 11:30

700 decals and 4 weeks !!!!?? WTF?..... Ok thats A Far King lot....
does anyone do the stencils as complete panels ?
ie here is one decal to do a whole wing and another for the under side etc. etc.
13 October 2014, 12:15

What a result mate. !!! Just beautiful and, the head on photo speaks volumes. There was something about the Phantom and this image says it all. I now have it as my screen saver image. THANKS. !!!
13 October 2014, 12:51

Is wie vernagelt...😉
13 October 2014, 14:54

What a beautiful looking Rhino, and your workmanship is amazing.👍👍👍
10 June 2016, 05:28

This model is so impressive in every aspect - really, really cool! Everytime you open the gallery there is a new nice detail to discover 👍
15 June 2016, 21:19

may i ask how you did the dials in the cockpit? are those decals? if those are decals, which ones? i am working on a F-4J and those dials look better anything i have seen. and certainly are not part of the aires sets
5 August 2016, 23:22

Thank you! 🙂
Spanjaard I actaully used the Aires film and PE parts for the dials, painted on back with some different colours. I added some pics to the album, please take a look. 🙂
6 August 2016, 03:42

thanks a million Klaus..... somehow i forgot that the film was there! fortunately it is not lost so i will try to use it in the same way. 🙂 . thanks a lot for the pictures. if I can get half of what you managed to do, i will be really happy about my phantom 🙂
6 August 2016, 08:18

Thanks a lot! 🙂 I just saw your project and it looks great! Keep on! 👍
