WOW, What an amazing looking aircraft. It looks part Messerschmitt, part Mustang, and beautifully presented Barry. 🙂

Thanks for your comments. Yes, Kerry, it is. When the USAAF first encountered them they thought they were licenced built Bf109s and later Italian designs, hence its code name 'Tony'.

I never knew that and the only thing that made me say that was the low set exhaust stack and air scoop on the front left port side, plus the Japanese had been friends with the Germans for a while. !!!!

Its a mixture of He-100, He-112 and Bf-109. These three planes where buyed from Japan. And the chief constructeur was educated in germany by Messerschmidt. The Ki-61 was one of the few Jap. planes with a V-12 engine.
