STug IV crew passes a burned out farm shed in Russia. The back of the shed has the Russian slogan “For the Homeland!” Painted on. The Russians burned or destroyed everything in their retreat to the east, a “scorched Earth” policy to ensure the Germans got nothing in their advance.
