Nice. I've had this kit in stash since I came back to the hobby in 2017/2018. Never have gotten around to it yet. Perhaps this will give me some inspiration.

I was in Canada many moons ago and was driving a black on like that loved it

Thank you for the nice words 🙂
I definitelly can recommend that kit or the Chevy Pick Up on the same base too. Thy fit well enough together and have not that much parts. It's a nice kit to build. When I were asked, to build one, Ididn't take a second for the answer "Sure!"
So: do it. If you'll get or have one: do it.

I like that kit and it's also well priced
Sorry to say I haven't got it yet

You're welcome and thank you, mates 🙂
Looking forward to get it paint the next two days. It depends on the temperature around here.

Thanks, mates!
This color matches totally to my 1949 Mercury 8 😄
@Benjamin .... The color code for that is WA8066 and called "Dark Charmine". I ordered a rattle can for it. A bid one so I could paint three more of it *lil*
By the way: yesterday it got a second layer of the red. It's sitting in the drying box and waits for clear coat.

If I had that kit I would want to weather it to smithereens. Not my strong point, weathering, so I never bought it.
Love the red!

Today it was just wet sanding. After that, I'd paint it again and hopefully the base color is smooth.

New Chrome, the grey interior and the grille is done.
Waiting for better weather to paint the body again after wet sanding.

Thanks! I think one bumper need to get another layer. On the left half, it isn't that shiny like the rest. Maybe I spraed a lottle to much on it. We will see.

Good to see some progress, the croming is perfect. Do you use Alclad stuffs?
27 January 2023, 07:25

No, I didn't use Alclad in this case. I'm a guy, who wants to paint by airbrush "quick and dirty". Alclad doens't fit into my wish of work. It ahs to be painted in more thin layers. I can do it, but I'm not the biggest fan of it.
I used Chrome by ARC. I didn't found that product online in a quick search. The processing is like Alclad only that you can apply almost a covered layer without stains forming (as happens with Alclad). Nevertheless, I spray thinner layers. The parts one after the other in one spraying session in two or three rounds.

in my opionion, the chrome looks good.
you can make a picture from the stuff you use 😉

Christian, as I read, the chrome paint of Green Stuff works well, and it doesn't need shiny black base. This is it:

I'll check that, thank you!
And I'll take a picture of the bottle 🙂

Christian, I love MRP paint. Slightly expensive here, but it just grabs to the plastic, and lays down like a virgin on silk! Nice choice, my friend 👍
28 January 2023, 21:40

Today the weather was good enough to spray the final layer of base coat to the body.
29 January 2023, 19:02

-> In March, I gave the PickUp into the hands of my brother to finish it. Thank you, brother 🙂
So he gave it another clear coat and a round of polishing. He already put the Chevy on it's wheels. Only a hand full of parts are missing on the body. So cool.

Thank you very much. This "thing" looks fabulous. My brothers skills for a shiny gloss finish is incredible.

It's done 🙂 Two pictures for your ongoing interest 😉 from our monthly meeting. As soon as possible this Chevy rolls onto the gallery.
Thank you for your kind words!

This will be nearly stock. Using the GMC Pickup and the grille of the Chevy Stepside Pickup. Looks like no big deal.
