These are the first two real pieces I have ever airbrushed. Good fun was had by all.

I've been remiss in posting updates but we have been working on this as well. Green on green…

Just go easy with the clear coat mate. It's wayyy too easy, to put too much on, at once! I do a mist coat, all over first, give it a few minutes to get tacky, then hit it with a wet coat. However, everyone has their own way, and I think that it's what works best for you? Check out the YouTube videos, for different approaches. It's all about learning, without doubt.

Same system I use for almost everything. Light coat to get it sticky and then lay it on wet. I don't have any airbrush clear coat yet. Working through my backlog of rattlecan clear. But soon I'll give that a try as well.

There's a few ways to decant from a rattle can, but I think that it's Bill, who came up with a good way? Worth checking out, anyway, mate

I've watched a few videos on that as well Bozz.
Also, Thanks Villiers!

Engine and rear end also painted up. Nice detail on the engine. Had reliefs for spark plug locations. So I drilled those out and will go ahead and wire it. My first Moebius and I'm enjoying it so far.

Slowly moving forward between work and real life. Engine almost all the way complete now. Interior done with dash and firewall installed as well as steering box and battery. A very nice little model engine in this kit for sure.

Glad to hear you are now airbrushing. Nice progress on your Ventura. Here is a link to the rattle can decanter I invented.

Chassis, interior and engine are all mostly complete and mated together permanently. This is quite a nice kit with pretty excellent details. Been a fun build. New technique learning is always ongoing. On the body, I am making my first ever attempt at using bare metal foil. A challenge but something I have wanted to try for awhile now. More practice necessary, to be sure but I'm happy with how the side trim is looking.

The interior looks great and the dash looks real good. Did the steering wheel come in clear plastic?
11 February 2023, 19:11

Thanks Robert! And yes, the steering wheel was molded in clear. Nice because I saw some reference photos online where the wheel was sort of a clear like that. Except the grips and spokes which I've painted.

Also thanks Villiers! The color was picked out by the wife. She enjoys picking out colors for me and I'm happy to build them in the colors she chooses. In this case it also had a big influence on the direction I went with the interior.

Nice job on the side trim. On to all the window trim I imagine. The four 65-66 Pontiacs I have in progress used up an entire sheet of BMF and a little bit more since I did the interiors too. My wife basically "tolerates" my builds.
12 February 2023, 06:52

Thank you Bill! And you've got it. Worked on the window trim last night. Hope to finish the BMF today and move on to final assembly stuff. There's a ton of chrome on these big old Pontiacs!! So pretty though. And at least the wife tolerates them

Got this one pretty well finished off. Fit on this one was extremely tight. Test fitting parts revealed even one coat of paint could be too many coats of paint. Lots of detail though and it builds into a nice example of a beautiful car. First attempt at BMF and first ever airbrushed parts on this one. Been practicing with that and may even try a body next. Lol. Another enjoyable build and we're on to the next one.

This car has a huge windshield and rear window! Like it anyway because it's a Pontiac and I don't see that much around as a kit or built.
14 February 2023, 05:47

She came out great mate. That BMF detail around the windows, sets it off well.
14 February 2023, 07:11

Congratulations on the model AND the new skills. Did the wide whites come with the kit?
14 February 2023, 07:11

Alright, going to try to get you all responded to at once. LOL.
Appreciate it Christian! I love these old bubble tops.
Bozzer, thank you! I enjoyed trying out the BMF.
Thank you so much Bill! And yes, Tires are straight out of the kit. I thought they looked really nice.
And also many thanks to you Neuling, István, Jv, James and Guy!! Thanks all for your interest and comments. More builds soon!

If it makes you feel any better, I started on my XK-E. I'm toying with the best way to paint it, right now. I've got the sub-assemblies built, and they need to go to paint, but I also need to do some research on the original vehicle. I can see a slight bit of filling though, where the body meets the chassis, and that's what I'm pondering? We torture ourselves, but the outcome is worth it.
14 February 2023, 22:13

Ah Bozz! I'm excited to see that. It already has a front flip nose liek you're accustomed to, will you also be doing a dual rear wheel and goose neck conversion? 😂 Only kidding of course. We certainly do our fair share of torturing ourselves. As I always say, we're all our own worst enemies.
14 February 2023, 23:13

No doubt I'll recognize it my friend. Look forward to seeing it sometime for sure.
Nine tails, thank you so much!! My wife wanted me to paint a model in that color and I thought this was the perfect car for it.
