I have/had the same idea and upgraded 3 1991's DRAGON 1:35 "ModernAFV series" T-72 w/ERA; BMP-2E; SA-9 Gaskin; with new current decals, figures and upgrades to the Ukraine-Russia war (special operation hahahaha);).
I actually wanted to equip the T-72 with a homemade anti-drone cage.

The conversion kit has sharp detail and comes with a clear manual how to install the resin parts.
The only 3D print lines are on the back of the tower behind the middle shovel, but these are easy to remove with 400 grit sandpaper.

Thanks I started with a base. First time working with xps foam.
Made a damaged house/ruin for the abandoned sturmtiger.
But the primer melted the foam 🙁
But I'm going to try again in the near future.
