Oddball622It is a great figure, and a perfect fit for the Tamiya Jeep. Drops right in with zero issues. The details are very fine with no casting flaws etc. This figure, along with the Officer for the passenger seat, were my first DEF Model figures, and I have to say, I am quite impressed by the quality.
Well worth the money, especially since there are no alternatives for Korean War winter gear USMC drivers.

Oddball622The casting quality of the wheels and the bumper was quite bad on the example I have received. Plenty of air bubble holes and other casting flaws I haven't seen on the Black Dog resin stowage kits I've used before, at least not to the extend present on the parts I have received.
I know fakes/recasts of Black Dog stuff are sold on ebay etc, but I bought it from a big established retailer so I doubt I got a fake. Maybe it was just a bad batch. All the issues I have with it can easily be fixed/hidden with filler and weathering, so it is still a perfectly usable set for me. The covered windshield and the rolled up tarp had no issues and only need the usual cleanup associated with resin parts.
On a positive note the kit also came with two unique M36 musette bags not seen in the product photos, one with a (wine) bottle sticking out of it.

Oddball622I decided to go with the decal option for "Bushmaster" of the 763rd Tank Battalion, and did some research on the original tank which made me realize that the kit instructions aren't good when it comes to depicting the specific tanks included as decal options.
Almost all the parts needed to get a more accurate result are included in the kit, but it is up to the builder to figure out what to use instead of the parts outlined in the instructions. The kit also includes a high and a low bustle turret, again, it is up to the builder to figure out which type of turret the original tank they want to depict had.
In case of Bushmaster the tracks included in the kit are the wrong type, since the Composite M4s of the 763rd were equipped with T49 steel tracks. For my build the tracks were the only aftermarket parts I added, everything else needed for a more accurate Bushmaster comes in the box.
A pair of overpainted stars also needs to be added to the sides of the hull, since the kit only comes with decals for the stars on the turret.
It is definitely a good kit, and fun to build, but anybody who has even the slightest rivet counting tendencies will probably look at reference material more than the instructions of this kit.

Oddball622While the final result looks very good, it takes a bit of work to properly fit the barrels to the kit. (Kit in questions is the I Love Kit M3A5 #63519 but it shares many if not most sprues with the other M3s by that brand.)
The 75mm barrel has a slightly larger diameter near the muzzle compared to the kit part, meaning the barrel counter weights from the kit will need to be reworked to fit properly.
The 37mm barrel was tooled for a different kit and seems to be the same in all Master M3 barrel sets. Fitting it to the I Love Kit turret requires the opening for the kit barrel to be drilled out a bit.
Overall the barrels look nice. The 75mm is not much of an upgrade compared to the kit part, but the 37mm with its multi-part construction makes a noticeable difference.

Oddball622The parts look great but assembly is a nightmare. The end connectors are supposed to snap fit into the track pads, but more often than not they just fall out. And if they don't fall out, the pins on the connectors love to break. Having to glue it to keep it together defeats the idea of "fully workable" tracks advertised as no glue required.
Maybe I got a bad printing batch, but I can not recommend these tracks at all. The short track run that managed to stay together looks great, but it took forever and was an incredibly frustrating experience. I'm probably just going to use the vinyl tracks that came with the kit.

Oddball622This is probably old news, but it also perfectly fits the Academy M4A2 and M4A3 kits.
I've used it with the USMC M4A2, where it directly replaces the kit barrel with no need for any modifications.

Oddball622Can't personally recommend it. The way the tools and the clamps fit together is quite poor, the relation of scale between the two feels off. The attachment point that goes into the shovel handle for example is far too large for the included shovel. The attachment point that goes into the track tensioning wrench is also too large, or the eyelet of the wrench too small.
The tools, in my eyes, just don't look right in general, overall they appear too small, and the shapes of the more "complicated" tools like the shovel and the pickaxe head don't really match with their real world counterparts.
The placement of the printing supports of the tools is also not ideal, in a few places they intersect with the clamps that are on a layer below the tools. The layout of the parts on the base layer is also very cramped, making it unnecessarily hard to remove the fragile pieces intact.
The clamps themselves are fine, picking up the version without the included tools and using them to add detail to tools from other sources is probably the better option for most.
