Airplane ID

A question for the plane spotters out there - can anyone ID the plane in the pictures in the album? They are from the Tintin book "The Lake of Sharks", based on an original Tintin movie rather than a Herge cartoon but even so I'd like to know if it represents a real life plane and if it does, I'll see if I can find a kit of it to fill out my Tintin collection. Thanks for looking.

Isn't it the Islander?

Thanks Lukasz, Olly. Not sure about that though - the shape of the nose and tail are different, the engine nacelles are longer than on the Islander and the undercarriage isn't fixed.

What a find! I haven't come across it, but I'm not so much into General Aviation 🙂

It was pure luck.
I was searching for aircraft with the same engine as used in the Islander. The Aero Commander was number two on a long list.

Wow, thanks Daniel. That really looks like a good match. Hats off indeed!

Sorry guys, I was busy sleeping... 😉 Not that I would've been much help. The Lake of Sharks isn't really considered part of the adventures since it's non-Herge material, so I don't know anything more about it than Uwe does... I would've been asking for the same kind of help. Nice work Daniel! I'm writing this one down too...

Yes i was going to say it looks like a Rockwell Aero Commander but as i scroll down i see you already know! That kit should be released soon it's a new resin kit. Try Aviation Mega Store they should get it in!

Thanks for the heads up on the Aviation Mega Store Glenn. Didn't know about that one yet but it looks like a great source (and managed to get the kit on pre-order 🙂 )

If you are ever in the area than the aviation megastore is a great place to spend a few hours, highly recommended

True story, Wim. But they should definitely enhance the balcony (rest area) with some catering for bored waiting wives😉

Croco Models also announced a Aero Commander 560.

More like the other way around... I'm a fan of Uwe's work from way back.😉

Thanks Greg, couldn't find and embarrassed face emoji... Must get around to another Tintin build though.
