Thanks all for your encouraging likes and comments. I had to push myself to finally finish this one, it's a long way from perfect I acknowledge. But it's given me experience if nothing else for a nicer kit version by a different manufacturer in the future. It's niggling me that on the teaser image I didn't seat the canopy properly - I usually leave these loose so anyone can inspect the cockpit - it's just something I did as a child. However I may need to re-take this image just because you can see a small gap, which shouldn't be there... Modellers, we're all so fussy! As the wife will confirm when we talk about my DIY decorating timescales!... Anyway, thanks also to those who've separately liked 👍 You're all very kind 🙂 Next up, finally time to update the Black Bunny F-14 Tomcat album too...

I completely ignored the directions on the wing tip thing. LOL I figured the decals went all the way, thats what they were gonna do, right or wrong. There are pics suggesting both would be correct. Look here. aerobaticteams.net/e..html#google_vignette I chose not to mess with red for the top though.

I built this kit not long after I returned to modelling. It was a bit of a painful experience and I haven't gone near Special Hobby since. 😄

Nevertheless (with your talent) it's very kind of you to even suggest - I'm chuffed! @Denis, I'll definitely follow your advice, metal finish (not yellow) it is for the wheel wells. Wow! Thanks very much mates. This kit isn't the greatest (I know excuses!) I really just used it as an exercise in brush painting camouflage and practicing weathering. Totally aware it's completely unrealistic. So very humbled and pleased to have all of you comment 🙂

Beautiful build! Did you have to treat the decals to prevent them from shattering?

Hi CaptGPF, thanks for your like and comment 👍 actually for a 40+ year old kit, the decals on this one were pretty useable. In my experience you've just got to be extra careful and avoid softening agents as they will make them disintegrate. I love to build using only the original kit decals wherever possible, but it's always a delicate process... More so than when using a fresh new set where you can pile on the pre and post solutions to help it all settle and adhere.

Hi all 🙂 So I'm still catching up... I've got around to taking reveal pictures for many of my previous build albums. I shall be updating each and including a few build notes in the description too - especially on the bits I messed up! Broke! Dropped! etc. This time I present my version of the Italeri Nighthawk, completed back in 2022.

As usual I made a few mistakes on this build, not least broke (and lost) the antennas on the leading edge. Of course, I could have made something else work, but to be honest I've got this aircraft several times more in the stash. So I'll just make a better job next time! Hahaha! The aged decals with the kit were also completely unusable, so on this occasion I had to buy an aftermarket set.

I learned a lot about how to try and mimic/paint that stealth finish, my next effort will be better. I also used a healthy dollop of artistic licence too in highlighting the angular shape/edges. Thanks to all who showed interest and liked, it's very much appreciated from such a talented lot as you guys. Hope you like my efforts. 👍
