Kesa Tiho 著者I wouldn't say your late to the party at all, if I were to guess then I think I'm somewhere in the middle of the building process. Still have to make the water and wait for 1:350 Eduard PE figures so theres more than enough party to go around! 😄

Kesa TihoHi everyone. Since I'm completely new to rigging I wanted to ask if theres a website from where It's easy to see wires on ships, tanks, planes, etc. If not then is there some other source where to find pictures for rigging?

bughunterClearly you are already on the right platform!
Have a look around here - there are hundreds of building reports showing what you need. For what other reason are these reports created?
See for example ships and biplane reports.

Steven Van DyckIf it's for US ships, Navsource often has useful pictures for the rigging. For tanks or planes I used to visit Prime Portal, but walkarounds can also be found on Scalemates.

bughunterThis story has two aspects - yes, Steven is right about pictures of the originals to know how the rigging should look like. The other side of the story is about the realization in the model, with rigging material and so on, so I recommended the build reports here.

@Gorby It's nice that your great-granddads weren't eating led for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Did the one who fixed aircraft ever bring anything home from work? I feel like it's normal to do so since my father (who works as an aircraft mechanic/group commander) brings stuff from work quite a lot. Infact one of my Christmas presents was a broken turbine of an Airbus engine. Why? "For when shit hits the fan."

gorbyIt's very good for a first proper diorama, just think how your modelling has improved in the last six months. If you want to tweak the dio further, I'd suggest adding more soil and the messier the better. As you say, puddles n' craters – plus boot prints etc. Don't worry if the wire or sandbags get partly buried under the soil as they would have been in reality.
That granddad wasn't interested in aircraft at all, which was probably just as well as no doubt it would be frowned upon if they found him trying to take bits of Hurricane home during the war. The sort of thing my other granddad would have arrested him for. 😄
Having said that I do have something which only recently I've been wondering what the hell to do with. When I was a kid he gave me an aircraft cannon shell. At the time he said it was a blank so lets hope he was right. 😮

Kesa TihoHey everyone, since most of you all have been at this hobby for a while I wanted to ask if you all had any kit suggestions for me. Since Christmas is coming up and my mother is pressuring me into writing a letter to Santa because shipping and whatnot takes time, I just thought id ask for good kit suggestions from people with hundreds in their stash and hundreds in their showcase shelf.

Kesa Tiho 著者Thanks, mates. Ill look into the M113's. Id love to just write random kits down but the issue is the paints. Painting is a big issue as i dont have many paints. So ill have to take that into consideration. But now thinking back to your Panther, Gorbs I feel the first thought ive probably ever had forming in my head. Either way thanks 👍

Spanjaardthe M113 is certainly a great choice. i did M113 ACAV (Tamiya 35135, 1:35) myself (and even did a dio with it), a joy to build, easy to paint, very nice interior, and not complicated. But 1/72 armour as suggested by gorby is also a great idea. did one myself ages ago, and it is still one of my favourite builds, took it with me from Spain to NL even (i wish i could do that with my M113 Vietnam dio....)
