Thanks Alec. I was a bit worried that she was a tail sitter, but the open cargo bay seems to have mostly remedied that. She'll be glued down on the base, so it shouldn't really matter, but less stress on the glue is probably helpful.

Thanks Gary. I'll tune it to see if you can manage the forced perspective... it would be nice for this kit to have something to contribute. I should be kinder and not let my hatred for off-scale kits get the best of me... it's just when they lie about their size that I can't stand it. 😉

Meanwhile... we have some grey paint over decals... it's an experiment.

You been busy wiring 👍 l purchased an Led kit that is designed to complement Lego builds, they seem very handy for modeling too.....the wiring , battery and Led,s are plg-n-play .purchased it from AliExpress hopefully to use on an MI-8 Dio build this year.
I don't know much about escape killers??

Most of the wiring is pretty simple. I usually just use USB power plugs as an adaptor - basically your phone's 5V USB can power them. It's just LEDs, DC motors and a few resistors to make sure nothing blows up. The plug and play packs are a good way to get started though.

The "Escape Killers" are basically the "internal affairs" division of the mercenary troops at Area 88 in the manga story. They chase and shoot down deserters. Once I'm finished the project, you'll be able to read the chapter that inspired this build on my blog. 🙂

Thanks Naram. I usually don't put batteries in my builds. Almost all of the powered ones have a USB plug and I run them off a phone charger. On the rare occasion that I DO put batteries in a project, I hide them in the base. 🙂

Got the decals on. The Platz ones went on like a dream, but for the larger yellow numbering on the engine cowl, I cut up some decals from the Hasegawa F11F kit I had leftover after one of my Area 88 builds (AREA 88: F11F-1 (Gary Macburn) | Project by strobez (1:72)). The ancient decals disintegrated almost instantly on my first attempt. I got it done eventually. Now just the propellor and a few minor adjustments left to work on.

Hey Amrith. Sorry, didn't see this message before now. I'm still working on the Carreidas 160 but it's no longer a kit bash. I created a 3D model and printed out the parts. It's a bit slow going and part of me isn't quite satisfied with the result so far - a big part of that is because I feel like it's too big. I tried to find a happy medium between what I think the actual size of the jet is supposed to be (based on some drawings which are arguably "official") and how big it would actually be based on the size of the interior furniture. If you make some calculations based of how big the chairs would likely have to be... well, something's off. So now I'm debating trying to re-size and re-print the parts... I just need to convince my wife that I have to buy more resin~ 😉

Oh my. Neither one of us would have survived that operation. This was one of those kits I was holding on to "until I'm good enough" to tackle. I doubt that day will ever actually come. For some kits you just have to say "let the water flow" and let it be what it will be. 🙂

I probably wouldn't have put this project on the rotation on my own, at least not yet, but it did bring me back some fond memories of taking my son to school when he was very young. He really liked watching the Tintin animated tv series, and he really got a kick out of this scene. So, for a few weeks afterwards, when I still walked him to school, we used to do the "boodle, boodle, boodle…. Oi, oi, oi!" Handshake to say goodbye before the bell rung. Makes me smile now to think of it.

Another little Tintin "appetizer" project. This one would not really have been on the top of my list, but I got a request from another fan, so here we are. I can't take any credit for the Llama model. I got it off Cults3d.com and modified it a bit (who ever heard of a warrior riding an armoured Llama anyway?!). Fans of the books know this is the scene right before Captain Haddock gets sprayed in the face with water by the Llama - a running joke throughout the album. I actually wanted to depict that scene, but the request was specifically for this panel, so who am I to argue. 😉

Yeah. They all look MUCH better with figures. With these latest two (the canoe and the German police motorbike w/ sidecar) I'm now down to my last previously finished project in need of an upgrade - the DHC Chipmunk. Since I got an updated kit (arguably better than the ancient Airfix one) I wanted to give that one another go right from the spures.

Y'know Alex, because I had that extra 2CV base sitting on the bench, I accidentally glued the grass/train tracks to it because I wasn't paying attention. Luckily I was able to peel it off before the glue set and re-apply it to the actual Model-T base. Whew!
